'This is unprecedented, a far cry from the BN partners - Umno, MCA, MIC and Gerakan - which usually try to solve differences superficially 'behind closed doors' where Umno plays the 'tai ko' role'.
PKR leader concedes not all is well with party
Brij Jayaram Kathiravelu: Personally, I trust Pakatan Rakyat leaders when it comes to leading our country out of the mess of judicial, corruption, wastage of public funds, etc. Their leaders are coming out to declare to us, the rakyat, that all is not well with their respective parties.
This is unprecedented, a far cry from the BN partners - Umno, MCA, MIC and Gerakan - which usually try to solve differences superficially 'behind closed doors' where Umno plays the 'tai ko' role, or worse still, sweeps all issues under the carpet.
All is not well with Umno, MCA, MIC, Gerakan and PPP, etc too but we don't see their leaders coming out to declare and fix their problems. Problems and differences needs to be identified between the Pakatan parties for them to be solved.
In a family, community, organisation or office, problems are bound to exist and solutions need to be found. At least, now we know that individuals and parties involved in Pakatan are working to solve them. Now, for me that's something new!
Abu Luqman: Like it or not, PKR will always be labelled as the party of ‘Anwar Ibrahim and family and friends'. That needs to change.
Firstly, Wan Azizah should bow out completely from party politics and let Anwar become president of the party. No more of this nonsense ‘de facto' leader position.
Anwar then need to heed to the voices of party members, not those of his inner circle from his Umno days and his Malay College Kuala Kangsar schoolmates.
If members in Sabah wants Jeffrey Kitingan, so be it. Let them have their man. Dr Mahathir Mohamad tolerated S Samy Vellu for two decades because he was elected by members of the MIC.
With Sabah and Jeffrey Kitingan, Anwar should do the same. Anwar, you've spoken a lot about embracing democratic principles and hearing the voices of the people. It's time to walk the talk.
Gk: I like the frankness of Wan Azizah in admitting there are problems in PKR. Bear in mind many in PKR are ex-Umnos, ex-PBS, ex-MIC members and so on.
If these people still have a very strong Umno or BN mentality in them, let them go instead of keeping them. They can be easily bought and create trouble.
Zulkifli Noordin is another guy that must gotten rid of. Strict disciplinary actions are needed even to the extent of them losing their parliamentary or state seats. One good example is the Port Klang guy, Badrul Hisham Abdullah, who has just turned BN-friendly.
Just let them go. The rakyat will show them the exit at the 13 th general election. With Umno around, anything can happen.
Ellis Kurniawan: We really want to see the day when Pakatan Rakyat rules this country. Please, please stay united. It's very painful to read about all these infighting in the party. Think of the people and the country.
Katak Observer: Dear PKR president, at least you are honest in wanting to rid the party of unscrupulous members who do not have the interest of the party and nation and are selfish.
Keep it up and let's work towards a better future for all where there is only honesty and fairness.
Geronimo: Jeffrey Kitingan may be justified in resigning from the party but somehow or the other, right from the beginning, something told me that his stay in PKR would not be long and that he would move on to another party.
So it has come to pass. Despite the problems faced by the party of late, I would still vote for PKR or any other party in Pakatan rather than that racist grouping called BN. Thanks Kak Wan, we are still with you.
Azmil Tayeb: Kak Azizah has come out strongly to admit the party's problems. I hope all the supporters give her some space to solve and manage all the internal problems. Let us not sideline any in the PKR leadership.
Look at the bigger picture in that we all want change. Right now, the BN is abusing the powers of the judiciary, the police and the MACC to weaken Pakatan. Remember that if we don't ‘change' at the next general election, we are all doomed to be poor and are bound to pay for BN's corruption.
As for Jeffrey Kitingan, he is power crazy. He has jumped ship many times in his political life. Now he should go back to PBS as the time has come for his elder brother to retire. East Malaysian politics is different and so Peninsular Pakatan leaders have to be careful.
Flamethrower: If Azmin Ali is an issue, sack him. He is placing personal ambition over party matters. He rattled the Selangor menteri besar and the state government, and then he messed up Sabah.
Let him go. Some will have to be sacrificed for others to survive.
