K'tan 'wang ehsan': 'Jubilation premature'

your say 'The Kelantanese are not beggars. They would prefer to be poor and live with their heads held high than to be beggars. Returning money rightfully belonging to the Kelantanese is only proper.'

K'tan gets ‘wang ehsan', PM denies snap polls coming

Non-Kelantanese But Malaysian: Looks like my congratulations to Najib have been premature. He has spoiled the whole thing by calling this payment ‘wang ehsan'. So sad. This is BN mentality all over again - always using opportunity to humiliate others.

Please, the Kelantanese are not beggars. They would prefer to be poor and live with their heads held high than to be beggars. Returning money rightfully belonging to the Kelantanese is only proper. Please don't make the payments look like giving them favours.

Royalty Eksan: Any petroleum payment that is due to any state in Malaysia is known has royalty. The sly Dr Mahathir Mohamad changed it to ‘wang ehsan'. Now the current PM may change it 'wang sedekah' (alms) but I hope it is given straight to the government of the state of Kelantan and not through any BN agency.

Malaysia + Kelantan: People, don't think the PM is giving the money to your state. Just watch out for it may go to Umno-controlled agencies. Greedy fellows. Taking public funds and enjoying their lives.

SusahKes: We all know how some ‘philanthropists' work - steal from society, then pass some token amount back as ‘charity' or in this case, ‘compassion payment' then claim to be a ‘good guy'. Just watch the movie ‘Godfather Part III' to get an idea.

And we all know how efficient the Umno government is in ‘channeling' state funds back to the states - via Umno's local service centers. So I say to the people of Kelantan - don't start jumping for joy.

This could just be a larger version of the ‘give goodies to the people' tactic that worked well in Bagan Pinang.

Roti John: Why ‘wang ehsan'? ‘Ehsan' means that you are begging for it. Royalty payment is your right. Let the PAS government manage the money themselves. Don't let others manage for you or else you will see the situation in Terengganu recur - the money is being feasted on by the cronies and the rakyat will get bones only.

Zubir: As long as Kelantan is under the Pakatan Rakyat government, it will be called 'goodwill payment' or ‘wang ehsan' and the amount will be just a token amount. But if BN is ruling, the payment will be called ‘royalty payment' and the amount will be accurate and full.

Fadhilah Yusof: The people of Kelantan want royalty payments - not another ‘wang ehsan'. The money is not ‘ehsan', it the right of Kelantan that should be given to them. This is just another public relations campaign by PM Najib with no sincerity. Just for show.

Guar-nangka: About time too. Now Kelantan can use the windfall to develop the state and eradicate poverty amongst her people. The people of Kelantan must continue to vote for PAS/ Pakatan to ensure the money is not squandered by the BN politicians should they come back to power there. Never again!

If Najib thinks that the Kelantan people will return in droves to vote for BN, he's grossly off the mark. The state must form an investment committee comprising qualified people to guide the state government on sound investment projects with this newly-found money.

Do not abuse your power and squander the money for personal gain. You people fought so hard for your state's right to this resource which rightly belongs to all Kelantanese.

Ghkok: BN is still the same, taking our money and treating us like beggars. This has to change. I have a very strong feeling that Najib is about to call for a general election.

Dr Jacob George: Snap elections will be good. Very good for the nation. Now we all know who can work and who are an absolute embarrassments as politicians. The PM should call for one within the next 90 days.

Perak Boleh: A very good decision Mr PM Najib, giving ‘compassionate payments' to Terengganu and now Kelantan. What about Perak which is located neither in the northern, southern or eastern corridors?

Perak has been living in the dark corridor with the pirates of Pangkor Island and Perakians also needed ‘compassionate payments' for development.
