Multi Racial: ‘Clash of the titans'? Please don't make me laugh. A disposed 19-day deputy president taking on the president is called ‘clash of the titans'? It should read ‘Liow and his gang hitting the wall'.
These losers should just quit. In the first place, the previous EGM was not about removing Ong. It was about the three resolutions. But it was not good enough, based on MCA's constitution, to remove the president and the deputy president.
Besides, between Ong and Chua, the command more than 95 percent of the delegates. Even if another EGM is called, we already know the answer. Another EGM will be a total waste of resources and cause more embarrassment to the MCA.
To Liow and his supporters, if you cannot accept Ong as your leader, please quit and go somewhere else.
LahoreSan: The EGM is the way to go. As far as I am concerned, Ong will have to seek a new mandate. No fudging will change that. His claim now that he will accept Liow must not be believed by anyone.
Sooner or later, Ong will kick him out - just like what he did to Chua - while hiding behind the disciplinary committee. If everyone had accepted the result of the delegates' vote with open hearts, then Ong could not have orchestrated Chua's sacking in the first place.
Now he behaves as if he is the hero who will keep MCA together. Ask the delegates again - will they accept such a two-faced president? At least Chua had the guts to face the delegates in a vote.
Maybe the new anti-corruption champion of the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal will find the courage to do the same.
Hinku: The black hand's powerful and yet crafty planning is beyond any normal person's imagination. Ong will be ousted in the coming EGM. Liow's faction will collaborate with Chua's faction to bring Ong down.
Both of them would share power by one taking over the president's post and the other the deputy's post.
Justgreat: The MCA has never fought for the Chinese community as we have been left to fight all our battles alone without the help of any MCA leader. So whatever happens to the MCA is of no consequence to the Chinese community.
We have been sidelined, oppressed and maligned by Umno for far too long so much so whatever the MCA does is of no interest to Umno. MCA people are a bunch of good-for-nothing bigots that are only looking to enrich your own pockets.
Cala: Once upon a time, the word ‘democracy' was alien to both Ong Tee Kiat and Liow Tiong Lai. They then had Chua Soi lek sacked for a sexual misadventure knowing that the central delegates had factored that in when they cast their votes.
All of a sudden, they profess that ‘democracy' is very much alive and must be embraced dearly. Is it not another set of empirical evidence to the public choice theory?
Dr Jacob George: Strange that some do not find it repulsive nor vulgar the option of choosing a safe parliamentary seat in the elections or coming in through the ‘back-door'. This is called leadership in Malaysia? Is this not embarrassing?
Jet: Parliamentarians the world over are sometimes brought into government in this manner. Many senators in Malaysia are elected as well. Idris Jala was made a deputy minister in the same way.
Lastly, the onus is on the ruling party to appoint who they want. Not happy? Just wait for the next general election and if a new government comes in, then we will have various types of people as ministers, deputy prime ministers and deputy chief ministers. Sounds like fun.
Thuraisingham Shun: It is pertinent that the man representing the Indian community should first be accepted by the electorate, which is not the case of the MIC deputy president.
As such, his being appointed a senator is the prerogative of the prime minister however a misfit to the electorate he is. All these sore losers should pave the way for a new breed of leadership for the community.
JustPeace: Ooh... ooh... how touching! My eyes are tearing. Thanks to Prime Minister's Najib Abdul Razak 's public relations team!
Wira: Can this nation be honest about Altantuya too?
Ang Kim Teng: Oh my God, I am so touched...
Lim Chong Leong: This is so much spin, I am getting dizzy.
Concerned Citizen: Is it morally right for the premier of the nation to be vacationing in the south of France when the civil servants are asked to go without some benefits?
