Country gone south due to the 'looting'

vox populi small thumbnail 'Spend RM10 billion here and RM50 billion there and a couple hundred billion everywhere else, and this is where we have landed.'

Economy stagnant, needs reform: minister

Multi Racial: Second Finance Minister Ahmad Husni, I salute you for having the courage to say what is right for Malaysia. Although this is just a small positive step, it is significant especially considering your membership in Umno. Most of Umno leaders are not prepared to accept reality and are always in denial. But in the end, who suffers?

Now you talk right, but we hope that you will also walk the talk. We know it is difficult for you as most of your colleagues have problems accepting changes. At least we know that someone in the BN government is concerned about Malaysia.

Greyhame: This is hardly surprising. We have to consider that all the looting that Dr Mahathir Mahathir and his 40 thieves did is only surfacing to public knowledge now. Spend RM10 billion here and RM50 billion there and a couple hundred billion everywhere else, and this is where we have landed.

Funny how if you were to ask for an official Bank Negara statement, you would think the economy is surging through the roof. Malaysia is so superficial and some tell PM Najib Abdul Razak that there are no fundamentals.

Our consumer spending is centred around paying off Bala, Saiful, Dinesh, Deepak, cowhead protesters, senile judges, the AG, DG, EC, MACC, mega-project developers, Samy Vellu's many companies and of course, former menteri besars' fairyland visits and some botox-loaded tempe .

Bobby Chin: A lot of people are unaware that Mahathir's overnight policy change during the 1998 economic crisis caused significant damage to the nation's reputation as an investors' haven.

Overnight suspension of CLOB shares in Singapore and currency control measures caught many investors by surprise. Malaysia has been blacklisted ever since. Short-term gains has caused long-term damage to the nation.

Mahathir's 'contributions' to the country 10 years ago are now beginning to surface. Future generations are going to suffer because of the foolishness of a so-called 'tokoh' negara.

'BTN courses about facts'

RR: When we are talking about national unity and patriotism, its substance is standard and static. It should not change with a change of prime minister or administration.

It should inculcate respect for every race and religion. There should not be any talk of supremacy of any race. All citizens should be encouraged to work smart and hard for the progress of this nation. The best should be rewarded based on merit.

It is good that finally the government has admitted to the damage done by the BTN operators. Minister (in the Prime Minister's Department) Nazri Abdul Aziz has said the right thing. Don't blame him for being honest. Insert the right values into BTN now for real national unity and progress. It's better late than never.

Kris: Ahmad Maslan (programme head of BTN), the word ‘bumiputera' was coined by Umno to practice racism and discrimination against about 40 percent of Malaysians. The usual Umno strategy is to lie and deny any facts that they do not like.

A clear example is their rubbishing of two independent studies that show that the 30 percent bumiputera equity has been achieved. And now you and others continue to lie about the BTN. Most people know that 1Malaysia is 1BigLie invented by Najib to hoodwink Malaysians.

Umno's discriminatory policies, similar to those of the evil and reviled regimes of apartheid South Africa and Nazi Germany, are still religiously implemented and practiced. Until and unless every citizen born in Malaysia is treated exactly the same in all respects (i.e. as a bumiputera), this false propaganda slogan will be extremely sickening and disgusting to hear.

BN demo condemned, police report lodged

Penanginsider: Remember when Pakatan Rakyat organised all those rallies and then asked for the right to assemble peacefully? Now that they've formed the state government, just look at what they are doing. Imagine if they make it to federal level, it'll be hell on earth.

Lucia: Fine, if they want to hold a demonstration, it's within their rights. But torching a photo of the chief minister? That is too much!

Also, I heard that they were getting abusive and vulgar. Can't they do it in a peaceful, civilised manner? Yes, I know the person who torched the photo is not from BN, but those present from BN should have stopped him.
