Kelantan Menteri Besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat's son-in-law Abdul Ariffahmi Abdul Rahman, who will resign as CEO of Kelantan Menteri Besar Incorporated (PMBK) in three months' time, should cease work and leave immediately.

Mahfuz omar handing over to idris ahmad pas hq 220609 01 PAS vice-president Mahfuz Omar, who made the call today, said: "Nik Aziz as chairperson and board member of PMBK must ask Ariffahmi to exit immediately."

PMBK was thrust into the spotlight last week after the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) begun probing the state's investment arm.

Ariffahmi, who was appointed chief executive officer of PMBK three months ago, announced his intention to resign on Nov 23. He is expected to submit his resignation letter on Dec 24, giving a three-month notice to the menteri besar.

"A CEO who has given three months' notice can no longer decide on anything that'll be binding on PMBK, including financial and project management matters," said Mahfuz.

"Ariffahmi should be terminated from his position with immediate effect. PMBK, as a corporate entity, has to maintain corporate ethics.

"The menteri besar has the option of paying him one month's salary and asking him to stop work immediately. He should not prolong the controversy," added Mahfuz.

Or let him go on leave

The Pokok Sena PAS parliamentarian said Nik Aziz could also seek the opinion of the company's advisory board to continue paying Ariffahmi his wages for his last three months as CEO.

NONE Alternatively, Mahfuz said, Ariffahmi ( left ) should be asked to go on leave to prevent him from making decisions which may be binding on his successor.

The MACC had questioned him twice recently in addition to seeking information from the chief financial officer. Documents and financial statements were seized.

The MACC probe has also led to a rift between Nik Aziz and senior exco member Husam Musa, a one-time protégé of the menteri besar.
