Unethical bloggers? 'What about Utusan?'

your say 'Hishammuddin knows how to complain about bloggers. But he does not lift his finger with regards to Utusan Malaysia .'

'Unethical' bloggers come under Hisham's attack

Alexander Yuan: "The local journalists adhered to ethics but these bloggers did not, and this was what differentiated the journalists from these bloggers," said Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein.

If that's the case, what's Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian then? Did they adhere to any of the ethics when they spew their venom of racism and hate daily non-stop? Care to comment about that, Hisham?

John Smith: Don't ask bloggers not to run critical stories; rather ask why they want to do so. They want to do so because they see there are serious problems, and they want to ensure everyone knows about them so that those responsible do not remain in power.

Throw out the bad apples (straight away, without delay) and abolish the corrupt practices of patronage, bribery and backhanders; and you will silence the critical bloggers.

Kj Lim: If he can ignore the racist articles in Utusan and Berita Harian , what right has he got to criticise the blogs?

Besides, a blogger is not a journalist. Blog is a term evolved from "web log" to "we blog". It is merely a personal log.

Hew Ming Foong: Hello Kerismuddin, journalism in Malaysia... most of it is of good quality except those from Utusan and Berita Harian . They are just a bunch of unethical journalists who are best in stirring up racial problems.

These two Malay newspapers are meant for the whole public but those who blog are only for those who knows about Internet and able to search for it. So, Kerismuddin, who is not following the journalistic code of ethic?

PM Moey: Kerismuddin, until the day you act against the Utusan journalists who write articles with extremely racial overtones, don't bullshit us about ethical reporting. Period.

Freemsia: Hishammuddin knows how to complain about bloggers. But he does not lift his finger with regards to Utusan . First, he raises his ‘keris' to threaten non-Malays. Then he supported the return of a vile terrorist and mass murderer Noordin Mat Top but is against Chin Peng's return.

He also supported the cow-head protesters. Then he refuse to do anything about Utusan's racist articles...

Tan Keng Sim: Eh? Malaysiakini reported the truth about the cow-head incident and they got into trouble? And so did the Sin Chew Daily reporter who highlighted what that Penang Umno goon said and got arrested under ISA? Bikin tak serupa cakap!

Dr Jacob George: You first practice a code of accountability, good governance, zero tolerance for corruption, uphold justice, high moral ground, ethics and decency among yourselves (Malaysian politicians) first!

It is a two-way street. For your information - my letter to you dated more than two months ago is still unanswered.

Multi Racial: Hishammuddin, until you take action against Ahmad Ismail and explained why a journalist was charged under ISA for reporting what Ahmad said, my advise to you is not to speak on this subject as you are not qualify to do so.

Suhakam: The ball is in your court (Umno) to prove the bloggers are wrong of course with evidence and not using ISA.

Wira: Blog readers are better exposed to alternative viewpoints than those who access information from local papers and TV. The exposure makes them more discerning.

So if Hishammuddin wants to talk about ethics, please pass a freedom of information act so that the truth may be reported more ethically by the MSM (mainstream media).

Malaysian for Malaysia: Bloggers are not journalists. Bloggers are just people who have decided to put their thoughts, experience and knowledge to writing and publish it on the Internet. Hence, to equate bloggers to journalists is an injustice to their creativity and their right to speak their minds.

Blogs are blogs, just that, nothing more, nothing less. It is we the readers who choose to believe who we want to believe. If others can't fathom what some bloggers write, then by all means prove with evidence that their writings are false. Don't just say things are 'frivolous', for example.
