A reporter for PKR organ Suara Keadilan has alleged that police harassed him after he interviewed an individual with family ties to Rosmah Mansor, the premier’s wife.
Abdul Qayum Abdul Rahman said he had met the woman, whom he knows as Saharah, to obtain her reactions to a recent brutal murder in Gemencheh, Negri Sembilan.
Saharah is also said to be related to a family, four members of which were found dead in adjacent houses in Kampung Batang Rokan. One of the casualties had been decapitated.
However, it is understood that the interview also touched on issues pertaining to Rosmah.
Abdul Qayum claimed that a man - only identified as Muhammad - then forced him to surrender his identification card and jotted down his car registration number.
“He also seized my writing pad and deleted the voice recording because he was dissatisfied with the interview I had conducted with Saharah,” said Abdul Qayum in a report lodged yesterday evening at the Shah Alam police headquarters.
“The police were waiting outside the house while Muhammad took my identification card and documents without my permission.”
He claimed that the police and Muhammad threatened to go after him and his family should the interview be published.
The incident took place on Jan 10 outside Saharah’s house, shortly after he arrived at 3.30pm.
Abdul Qayum, who joined Suara Keadilan a month ago, said he lodged the report because he is concerned and worried about the safety of his family.
PKR Youth leader Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin and chief reporter Fazallah Pit accompanied him.
