'PWTC owned by Umno illegally'

vox populi small thumbnail 'We have Umno misusing hundreds of millions of ringgit of taxpayers' money and arm twisting banks to write off loans. A greater hypocrisy you could not find.'

Who financed PWTC? YOU did, says book

Kgan: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) springs into action when the Selangor Pakatan government was accused of using rubbish collection contracts for political financing (which was probably false).

But we have Umno misusing hundreds of millions of ringgit of taxpayers' money and arm twisting banks to write off loans. A greater hypocrisy you could not find.

Cala: When someone owns a property (be it a piece of land or building), he have must paid for it. He has proof of ownership by way of a title and on it his interest is registered. In Malaysia, the land office issues such a title.

The ownership of a property comes with it property rights. It confers on the owner three rights: the rights to own; the rights to derive income streams; and the rights to transfer the property in whole or in part (Ostrom, 1990).

However, if PWTC (Putra World Trade Centre) is said to belong to Umno but not adhering to the above institutional arrangements as expected under the law, it means it has acquired the building illegally. It is a form of plunder.

Former finance minister Daim Zainuddin has been quoted correctly when he said all would be fine under Umno/BN rule. Not so if the government changes hands. The writing is on the wall - they have not acquired the property rights.

Magnus: Like perverting the course of justice, misconduct in public office in UK covers a wide range of conduct. It should always be remembered that it is a very serious and indictable offence, which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

So who holds a public office and as a result can be guilty of this offence? According to the UK Court of Appeal ‘there must be a breach of duty by the officer, [which is wilful and which is such that the conduct is] an affront to the standing of the public office held.

‘The threshold is a high one requiring conduct so far below acceptable standards as to amount to an abuse of the public's trust in the office holder.'

Lahore San: I am not sure what else highway operator Plus is paying for right now. The construction cost should have been covered a long time ago, along with decent profits. Factor in the toll hikes, and you end up with a lot of money.

What happens to that money is probably the same thing that happens to the rest of taxpayers' money every year. It ends up in the auditor-general's report as being misused.

Tan Kian Khim: The illustrious MACC is too busy investigating the huge scandal of the cake that was given to PAS leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat to bother about trifling matters like PWTC, PKFZ and the hundreds of billions of ringgit siphoned off over the decades by Umno-BN and their cronies.

Ahmad Iqhbal: Barry Wain, you can write the sequel of ‘After the Maverick Era'. That's a bigger story.

Dood: This is not surprising, considering that it's not exactly a secret that the country's riches have for decades been plundered by "certain people". I just hope that when Umno/BN falls in the next general election, all their ill-gotten gains will be seized and repossessed, and all those who have done evil will face justice.

Abdul Rahman Lim: What can we actually do with all these allegations of filthy fraudulent transactions? Absolutely nothing, as long as Umno is in power. We cannot undo what has taken place except to vote for change come the next general election.

Jacob George: I thought we are getting rid of subsidies. What about subsidy-mentality politicians?

'I'm on a wheelchair, but DAP stands strong'

Ganapathy Ramasamy: Keep it up, Karpal Singh. Show them you are strong despite your disability. Let them crawl out of office after being thrown out of power.

Sentinel : To us Malaysians, YB Karpal Singh, you are a towering Malaysian whom we have always been proud to have as one of our leaders. Thank you for all that you have done and what you are still doing to help this country to become a better place for us and our children.

Ng Kim Eng: We shall pray together for harmonious cooperation among DAP, PAS and PKR within the Pakatan Rakyat coalition in the pursuit of justice, equality and civil liberty for all Malaysians, beyond race and religion, so that our children can have a brighter and peaceful tomorrow.

The silent majority will come in hordes to support Pakatan in the next general election without fail if you maintain an open and consultative relations within the coalition.

Makkal Sakti party president sacked

Hello: A deserved fate for this opportunist. Now we'll see the implosion of the party he created with the help of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Middle Malaysia: Indians have too many parties, so they can never fight for their own people. I strongly advice them to join DAP and PKR, whose membership are multiracial. This way, they stand a better chance for their voices to be heard since MIC and the other parties in BN are all servants of Umno.

Habib Rak: I've got the solution. Malaysian Makkal Sakti Party (MMSP) split into two parties. One MMSP-N (aligned to Najib) and another MMSP-M (aligned to Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin). There you go, it's solved.

Don't be addicted to Facebook, Twitter: Rais

Yuvan: As far as our Umno ministers are concerned, Malaysians have nothing to learn or gain by using Facebook, Twitter, etc. It is a waste of time and resources. But they would be very happy and pleased if Malaysians are fully immersed in Utusan Malaysia , their trusted mouthpiece.

It does not matter to them if Utusan 'churns out' any amount of 'rubbish' to hurt the feelings and sentiments of non-Malays. According to them, Utusan is the 'most logical' source of news and information and Malaysians cannot get anything 'real and truthful' from any other source.

Victor Johan: Rais proves again that light travels faster than sound. He looks 'bright' until he opens his mouth.
