'Don't sink to Nasir Safar's level'

your say ‘He may have gone overboard when he uttered racist remarks but do we need to swim in the same filth as him?’

Revoke Nasir Safar's citizenship: Indian NGOs

RubyStar: Sadly, Malaysian politics are now pockmarked by all these publicity-seekers who want their two days of fame on all the blogs. Nasir Safar may have gone overboard when he uttered racist remarks but do we need to swim in the same filth as him?

Sue him for RM100 million? Now the appetite for litigation in Malaysian politics is getting gargantuan and it is a waste of time and resources. Hello, it would be better to go and do some productive work to alleviate the conditions of the Indians in the estate.

When you demand for something, ensure that you have some cards to play and right now you have nothing. Shame on all of you.

Hardtail: Don’t forget to revoke his Datuk-ship too. People like him will bring shame to people with the ‘Datuk’ title in front of their names.

Kgen: People, there’s no need to make a lot of noise. Just make sure you vote out BN at the next general elections. Look at the Chinese, he insulted them even worse but what is their reaction?

They know Umno is like that so what is there to be upset about? Do you think one fellow being disciplined will change Umno? Do you think his attitude is unusual in Umno? If you want real changes and not piecemeal crumbs, then use your vote wisely.

Paradox: Where are the Chinese NGOs? Don't they have any dignity or do they think the Indian NGOs will take care of this matter by themselves? At least go and back them up.

Munisamy Sinniah:

The Malaysian Hindu Sangam and Indian NGOs have the right to press the authorities to charge Nasir for the derogatory remarks he made towards the Indian community. But they should not go overboard by demanding the revoking of his citizenship and giving ultimatums to the government.

The law of the country will take its course. All learned people know this. Nasir, however, never studied Malayan history.

Chankweechye: Just for everyone's information, when one is a Malaysian citizen by operation of law, ie. born in Malaysia after 1957, no one can remove his or her citizenship. It is different, though, for those born elsewhere and who obtained their citizenship through an application to the authorities.

KohJL:

Yes, maybe charge him for sedition. ISA, not likely. Revoking his citizenship is unconstitutional.

Rocky:

Stupid demand. Two wrongs don't make a right. Citizenship can't be revoked, period. We should stop all these statements about revoking citizenship and start taking Umno/BN to task because they are the ones who started this and like to use that statement.

Sze Tan: to quote the great Mahatma Gandhi ‘An eye for an eye, and the world goes blind’. While Nasir may have erred and got sack as the result of that error, let's stop at that.

Two wrongs do not make a right. Be kind and merciful for one day we may find ourselves in a similar situation if not worse.

KLeo:

Such childish demands. These people might as well roll on the floor and scream.

Abc123:

Those racist words were said at a ‘1Malaysia’ seminar. What audacity and what a slap to the prime minister. It is akin to telling the PM to go fly kites.

The PM needs to do some soul-searching on how many ‘moles’ are there undermining his policies and, by extension, him.

Watch your back PM, and you can show that ‘1Malaysia’ is not merely a slogan by:

1. Apologising yourself to the Malaysian citizens for Nasir’s conduct/words for after all the captain of the ship must take the responsibility.

2. Do not accept his resignation but terminate him - so that he will not enjoy a pension and benefits

3. Request that he be held under the ISA immediately as a security threat.

David: Nasir might have resigned but he's actually still doing work for his masters behind the scene. That's how Umno works.

Dood: Umno/BN will never act against their own man for saying what their own leaders themselves believe in.
