Media 'playing role to perfection'

vox populi big thumbnail ‘Alas, as expected, the media are playing their role to perfection. And my nightmares are coming true... once again.’

Sodomy trial: Paper headlines disgusting

Fadhilah Yusof: I was one of those terribly traumatised by the whole episode of explicit sexual reportage by the newspapers and television in 1998-1999 for the ‘Sodomy I’ trial. We lost our innocence as that episode`destroyed' a whole generation.

I reacted strongly when news of ‘Sodomy II’ came about, and I feared and dreaded that the whole thing would not cause more trauma to me and the younger generation.

Alas, as expected, the media are playing their role to perfection. And my nightmares are coming true... once again.

AM Ayob: That's why I stopped buying mainstream newspapers. If I want to read the news, I go online, and save my money rather than pay for trash. Why pay when you can read for free?

Not Confused: If homosexual acts of affection and love were not criminalised (as they should not be by now), then there would be no such trials and there would be no opportunity for the gutter press to publish such details to sell more newspapers.

The criminalisation of homosexuality is disgusting, inhumane and results from raw, extreme bigotry.

Umno has never closed its doors to talks with PAS

Keturunan Malaysia: Tok Guru is no small-timer in political games. BN probably wishes that he would just vanish. He’s walked through so many minefields to reach this far.

The interesting thing about the Kelantanese is that the more pressure you pile on this old man, the more people BN will find behind him.

It would be most interesting to see what follow-up action Umno will take on this. My bets will be on this smart old man to come up on top with winning points.

Kgen: Nik Aziz Nik Mat did not say, ‘Let’s talk about Malay unity.’ He’s always said, ‘Let’s talk about Islam.’

Now Umno goons are trying to twist Nik Aziz’s call into one for Malay unity. This shows how dangerous Umno is.

What does ‘Malay unity’ mean anyway? The government might as well change ‘1Malaysia’ to ‘1Malay’ and stop trying to hoodwink the people.

'Sedaq' to protest until Malay stakeholders are no longer 'ignored'

Chan: The ruling only affects illegal traders, so what's all the fuss about?

Honestly, our country is a mess because of the 'tidak apa' attitude. When finally we are seeing action from the authority, some quarters start jumping up and down and question why they are not consulted.

Perhaps Sedaq should ask why there are so many illegal traders, and see what they can do to help instead of making a fuss about nothing and not being helpful in any way.

Ric: How come no arrests were made by the police? No tear gas fired by the FRU? Were these people given a permit to demonstrate? Or do they have special rights under the New Economic Policy to demonstrate?

‘Oil royalty denial, sodomy trial, affecting gov't credibility’

M Suresh Kumar: Ku Li, you know very well that the government is out to remove Anwar Ibrahim. So how can you still be a part of the party that does not play fair?

In the final analysis, everyone will be judged on which side they chose to be on - the side of truth or the side of lies. With the right or the wrong. You cannot be loyal to the wrongdoers but yet say, ‘I was not one of them'.

Maha Yoni: Ku Li, the Umno you knew is long dead (and you know who killed it).

I'm aware that you may not fit in with any of the existing alternative parties such as PKR, PAS or DAP. Having been through the Semangat 46 experience, you probably couldn't be bothered with forming a new party.

So the best scenario would be for Umno to throw you out so that you can continue serving the nation as a respectable free agent - sort of like blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin - only more polite.
