'Apology aside, take action now'

your say 'Anwar had all the opportunity to take stern action against the lackeys who were out to undo whatever good Pakatan Rakyat has done, yet he didn't do so.'

Bad candidates - 'I'm sorry,' says Anwar

Cala: What is the difference between mistakes by omission and mistakes by commission? We are not God. Only God makes no mistake. Which man does not make mistake? As long as mistakes are made due to wrong personal perception of things under certain context, they are pardonable.

On the other hand, mistakes by commission are serious. Abuse of power, corrupted practices and playing favouritism are examples that come to mind. The good news to Anwar Ibrahim is, despite him having to face a series of setbacks seemingly for fielding wrong candidates in the last GE (general election), he might want to take consolation that Malays below the age of 35 are solidly behind Pakatan.

Rayfire: Being apologetic now will not do any good. This should have been thought through even before March 8, 2008. Most leaders were voted in because of the renewed hope of turning this nation's fate around for the better. The key word is trust.

You (Anwar) had all the opportunity to take stern action against the lackeys who were out to undo whatever good Pakatan Rakyat has done, yet you didn't do so.

We want you to be stern and form a credible team comprising of promising civic-minded leaders, such as Zaid Ibrahim, to lead PKR and Pakatan and fulfill its promise of stepping into Putrajaya.

Please, no more excuses, no more apologies. Be proactive and start filtering out the dirt now. We want a clean and credible team to lead Pakatan to victory over the tainted and polluted government we have right now.

No more empty promises, no more Sept 16 cheap stunts. Prove to us your team's worth by attending relentlessly to people's needs.

KSN: Anwar, action must be taken to correct mistakes at the first available opportunity. In politics, action is taken in the interest of the country and the people. People are aware that there were errors in the selection and elimination process of PKR candidates in the last general election.

Now you and PKR have plenty of time before the next general election. Action should be taken to identify candidates at both federal and state levels, their academic and professional qualifications, integrity, inclination to serve the country, their religious and racial bias, weaknesses towards corruption, character, etc.

Fadhilah Yusof: For the future, let PKR establish an independent committee to test and evaluate potential candidate for state and parliament seats. One person might be short-sighted but a group of intellectual and experienced committee members can have more wisdom.

No Fool: Sack those who are not team players and those who are not clean. Nobody expected Pakatan to do so well, not even Anwar and the other leaders. Hence candidates were carelessly picked for the sake of distracting and diluting the BN election machinery. The rest is history. This is a good valuable lesson.

The important thing is that Pakatan admits its problem and plan to do something about it. Let the rakyat judge those who betray them. We certainly will not forgive these greedy and dirty politicians. They are all one-term wonders.

Black Mamba: DSAI (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim), you are the best to have come out of Southeast Asia. Your daughter is equally smart. She speaks well just like you. I heard her on CNN in Singapore.

At least Anwar is sincere. When a leader makes a mistake he acknowledges it and takes the blame and apologises to the citizens and voters at large. This is the mark of great statesmanship.

Makcik Har: DSAI, I will only forgive you after Zulkifli Nordin is sacked. He should have been booted out after he stormed the Bar Council forum. This man is poison. There is no place for him under the Malaysian sun.

Goat: DSAI, to err is human, to forgive is divine. Let us all forgive and move on. Penang is proof that the Malays if given a chance can excel in whatever they do. To the successful new Malay breed of class F contractors, keep it up. You are on par with the others, you don't need the ‘tongkat'.

Avatar: Saudara Anwar, I can't say "tiada maaf bagimu" because "esok masih ada". It takes a great man to admit his mistakes but it takes even a greater man not to repeat the same mistakes. ‘Betulkan yang tidak betul' - this is the only word I can tell you.

Magnus: Yes, it takes humility (and good sense) to make an apology when one has made a mistake for whatever reason (of which the error has harmed others) instead of being defensive about it or finding cheap excuses for it, or worse, covering up that mistake.

Leaders only continue to remain as "leaders" (i.e. have followers who respect them enough to be willing to be led by them) because they are prepared to accept responsibility for the consequences when they have directly/indirectly screwed up through their actions.

So thumbs up to Anwar for having the simple courtesy and the human decency to respect those followers of his and to understand that as citizens they have been cheated by the turncoat Yang Berkhianats in the Pakatan coalition for whom they voted in GE12 only because these Yang Berkhianats ran on PKR or DAP or PAS party tickets.

ONG : Take note that apologies that take unnecessarily long to come out tend to appear hollow, insincere and issued with reluctance, except to passionate but blind followers. Take note too that not all followers, including passionate ones, are necessarily blind.
