1Malaysia: Is Najib still in control?

76 NGOs form council to defend Malay rights

Maximus: It is not inconceivable that MPM (Majlis Perundingan NGO Melayu) has the support of a significant number of the Malays and Muslims. Cuepacs itself represents over a million civil servants. MPM's message is loud and clear. Do not tinker with the NEP and Malay/Muslim supremacy. This is also a warning to the PM and his advisors (Idris Jala, Koh Tsu Koon), and his forthcoming economic liberalisation policies.

This is also a warning to all those who subscribe to the ‘Malaysian Malaysia' ideology and the premise that all are equal, irrespective of race, religion or creed. I believe that a large and significant proportion of Malays and Muslims subscribe to the MPM ideology due to fear and insecurity brought on by globalisation.

Also one should thank Tun Mahathir Mohamad and the BTN (Biro Tatanegara) for successfully inculcating this ideology among the masses. Unfortunately, organisations like MPM will only expedite the brain drain and capital outflow. Chinese, Indians and liberal Malays who oppose MPM policies will emigrate.

SusahKes: This ain't about Malay rights. This is all about politics. Ibrahim Ali needs a bogeyman to push his agenda of remaining as (Pasir Mas) MP. Obviously, PAS will no longer let this King Frog run on their ticket any longer. And it also looks like Umno, for now, is not keen to let King Frog re-join.

As much as Perkasa is being made use of by Ibrahim to remain in public eye, Umno is also making use of Ibrahim to sub-contract their Ketuanan Melayu agenda. All this erosion of Malay rights is a smoke screen... if they want to be genuine about Malay rights, then fight for Kelantan's right to oil royalty as Kelantan is the Malay heartland.

Jimmy Tan: I recalled Dr Mahathir said many times before that many who were given ‘crutches' would not want to give it up. So this demonstrates the point. We have so much baggage to carry and are now being left far behind Hong Kong, Singapore ,Taiwan and South Korea that were on par, or behind us, in their economic development. Soon we will fall behind Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia.

Kris: If organisations like MPM are able to convince the majority Malays that the obnoxious, racist and discriminatory policies of Mahathir should be continued, then Malaysia will almost certainly become another Burma or Zimbabwe when our oil wells run dry. This is because the discriminated citizens will take their talent and capital to other countries.

Magnus: As far as anyone who can read and understand simple English is aware, there is no such thing in the federal constitution anywhere as ‘Malay rights and freedoms', only Malaysian rights and freedoms and a carefully defined and limited discretionary duty of care on the Malaysian head of state to protect any marginalised Malaysians who may need protection for a period of time so as to enable those Malaysians to participate on an equal and level-playing field.

DontPlayGod: Good move. This umbrella body can start by scrutinising the talks and motives of BTN if they are really sincere in securing the harmony and security of the country. They can also monitor Utusan Malaysia's racist and inflammatory articles, most of which are highly seditious.

Abd Hamid: Dear PM Najib. We all know you are doing your best and trying to balance the acts. Now this NGO is bringing you a step backward. God bless your 1Malaysia concept. I pray in the next GE you will not depend on all these old guards as candidates. Go for the younger candidates and win the hearts of the youths.

Gk: Who do you regard as Malay, MPM? For those who support Pakatan Rakyat, do you regard them as Malay? When Ibrahim won his parliamentary seat on Pakatan (PAS) ticket, why was he not shouting about defending Malay rights? Wasn't it the Malays who supported Pakatan who sent him to Parliament? Can he be regarded as betraying the Malays that supported him then?

Resign is what you should do, Ibrahim Ali, if you regard yourself as a gentleman. In fact, this is a betrayal of all Malaysians who voted him, not just the Malays.

Kgen: When will these insecure Malays grow up and realise that nobody is threatening Malay rights, Islam or Malay rulers? How can non-Malays threaten Malays who form 65 percent of the population, hold all the political power, form 90 percent of the civil service, the police and the armed forces and have their rights enshrined in the constitution and protected by Malay rulers? What kind of siege mentality is this? Afraid of their own shadows?

Sentinel: Whither 1Malaysia? Looks like the 1PM is under pressure from the ultra and the hawks... now who is in control?

Zambry gets worked up over 'racist' Pakatan

Ibu Mertua: This is a case of the pot calling the kettle black. (Perak BN Menteri Besar) Zambri Abd Kadir thinks we are all fools who only read Utusan Malaysia and watch RTM.

Jeffrey Yew: What he is saying is truly unbelievable; it is the BN which is the party that is actively inciting hate and contempt for other races. Of course, he would like people to forget the past; forget all the unforgivable things which BN has done so that they may return to do more of the same.

The Atheist: Zambry, despite the court's decision you are still a ‘backdoor' MB. For you, to talk about the politics of hatred is utterly laughable. Through that huge glaring smile of yours in the photo, I see an abyss, an oncoming opportunity for the people of Perak to throw you and the rest of your government out.

Aunt Mae: What is Zambry talking about? Racial hatred? Ask Zambry to come and attend some of the Pakatan ceramahs and see for himself how united the Malays, Chinese and Indian are - members of all races sitting together and listening to the ‘menteri besar yang sah' Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin.

Sabah PKR takes Putrajaya to task over MyKads

KayKay: The system of creating Malays out of thin air was started by the colonial British in Malaya and is being continued by Umno through the National Registration Department (NRD), further cemented by the Election Commission. It's happening in Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia.

Most of the ‘Malays' in Sabah today are illegal immigrants given MyKads by the NRD and placed by Umno on the electoral rolls. Any pompous Malay strutting around in Sabah must be an ‘Orang Malaya' who thinks he has replaced the British colonialists.

Local Muslims are either classified as Bajau, Suluk, Barunai or coming from the Dusun tribes, ie, Orang Sungei, Bisaya or Ranau Dusuns. In Sarawak, the Malays are the Bidayuh and Iban along the coast who converted to Islam. The Brookes called them ‘Malay' after the fashion of the British in Malaya.

Besides the Sarawak Malays, one-third of the Melanau are also Muslims. The Muslims form 25 percent of the Sarawak population.

Richard F Sindra: Any action taken now to curb this problem will create only a little impact and will not be significant because this issue has been going on for almost two decades. It has plagued Sabah. Many foreigners who used to be undocumented workers are now bumiputeras.

Indonesian fans snub Negaraku, football association fined

Mygazee: Those Indonesians get pissed off every time they hear our national anthem. They know well that we stole it from their composer.

The original number was called 'Terang Bulan' and is still routinely being aired over their FM stations. It is usually sung by Rudi Van Dalm or performed by some Indonesian keroncong musicians during weddings and other non-significant formalities.

One thing is for certain - and all should acknowledge - Indonesians really hate, and are jealous of, Malaysians. No matter what class or creed they may belong, Malaysians to them are no different than Taiwanese to the mainland Chinese.
