MCA contestants: The more, the better

your say ‘Why should we stop anybody from contesting for the top post? What better way to show they walk the talk than by allowing every able man to join in the fray?'

Tee Keat: I will not withdraw

MorningSun: MCA central delegates must send a very strong signal to the party leaders that they don't want those who are only good at wagging their tails at Umno by giving a very strong mandate to Ong Tee Keat's line-up.

Cala: Why should we stop anybody from contesting for the top post? This is a 'democratic' country. MCA is supposed to be a democratic party. What better way to show they walk the talk than by allowing every able man to join in the fray? Through the process of natural selection, let the best man win. In the process, MCA can show to their coalition partners that the party is, indeed, very much alive and full of vigor.

In MIC, there is a dearth of talent other than S Samy "semi-value" Vellu. In Gerakan, they have talents but largely untapped. In Umno, they love their leaders so much that competition for top post is simply a culture that is alien to them.

In sum, I say: please go ahead with the contest for president post. The more contestants they have, the merrier!

Victor Johan: It is quite obvious that Ka Ting joined the fray to stop the further inquest and revelation by Ong Tee Keat to expose the PKFZ fiasco. If MCA members/delegates vote for Ka Ting or Dr Chua Soi Lek, it means that are also in cahoots with the criminals.

Anyways, MCA is irrelevant already, the fire being kept alive only by mercenaries with vested interests. It can't fool the majority of the people anymore.

Cliew: The opposition is just praying hard that CSL (Chua Soi Lek) will win, and then they will have a field day asking why CSL is not charged when Anwar Ibrahim is charged! This will be a huge liability to BN. To Pakatan Rakyat, a disunited MCA will be to their advantage.

Ditch the old, vote for new MCA: Incumbent party boss

Ichigo: Would you (Ong Tee Keat) consider pulling MCA out of BN if the current incitement to racial unrest continues from mainstream newspapers like Utusan Malaysia , Berita Harian , etc? If yes, then MCA is indeed in transformation and you will have my vote.

Wfcoolie: Yes, Tee Keat, the sword is drawn. Go for the kill. The community does not need those leaders without a sense of accountability and responsibility. They cannot and should not be permitted to pull wool over the eyes of the community by merely talking without any substance nor commitment.

The writing is on the wall. No more cheap talk by those jokers to convince the community. Their presence in the party will guarantee the process (of decline) already in the minds of most people in the community. Do we need to say more?

If you're (voted) out (of MCA), notwithstanding your love for the party, the party will be history by the 13th general election.

Soi Lek and Ka Ting exchange barbs

SusahKes: Whether it's Ong Tee Keat, Chua Soi Lek, Liow Tiong Lai, or Ong Ka Ting, it matter not. There was not one whimper from any of this bunch on Utusan Malaysia , Perkasa, the ‘Allah' issue, Goods and Services Tax, New Economic Model, Altantuya Shaariibuu or Nasir Safar. Even issues like the Teoh Beng Hock or PKFZ cases, all of these have been conveniently shelved by MCA.

Why? Because your rice bowls is more imporant. Your pathetic power tussle is a shame when compared to genuine Chinese heroes like Justice Bao. Do you care? No. Neither do we (about you). Go sink with Umno.

Maroondah: It's strange that they still call themselves Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) for they have been irrelevant to the Chinese community for a long time.

Cks: All these reassessment and realignment at the national and divisional levels are an ample display of MCA's political culture - horse-trading with the sole objective of betting on the winning horse. Political principles are furthest on their mind.

Anything goes in race for MCA chief

Inspektor Klueso: The MCA ship of pirates is beyond repair and is sinking fast. What Ka Ting, Tee Keat, Kong Cho Ha, Chua Soi Lek, Liow Tiong Lai, and others are doing is basically fighting for the carving rights for the carcass, which - before expiry date - is still worth billions of ringgit in terms of the table scraps from Umno, MCA assets, PKFZ, etc.

Ng Seng Tong: When we have leaders who are talented but have no character, it spells problems for the party they lead. Reputation is not the same as character. Reputation is what people think you are; character is what you do when you are alone or when you are in the dark.

Trust is an issue that has direct bearing on fallen leadership and how quickly they should be restored. MCA members must therefore understand the difference between forgiveness and trust. Forgiveness is instant but trust is built over a period of time.

Trust comes from having a track record. And while we must be quick to forgive, we are not called to instantly trust people who do not have a track record for being trustworthy.

When someone falls in leadership in a party, forgiveness is to be instant, friendship is to be instant but he must prove himself over a period of time before he can be placed back into position of leadership because leadership is about integrity.

Ahmad Iqhbal: The deafening clashing of the cymbals, the thundering beating of the drums, clowns everywhere fanning themselves, the building up of the tempo, furnacing up the heat, reverberation within the confines of the head office. Lions are up on the poles. Thirty-one sure-footed ones will remain on the poles come Sunday.

It is this battle they are fighting... but have lost sight that after the 12th GE they are relevant no more. Ting, Ting, Ong, Ong, Chua is Strong, with the support from the Sarong.
