PKR MP: 'Malay warrior' Ibrahim Ali owns shares in gambling company

Ahmad Iqhbal: All this while Ibrahim Ali was allegedly gambling that no one would find out about his ‘haram' shares. What a wonderful country that the former PM (Dr Mahathir Mohamad), who grew up with nothing, magically became super wealthy as having one of his sons in the billionares' list .

There is nothing wrong with being a wealthy person regardless of race, but when you are screaming about how down-trodden the Malays are only to be enriching yourself at everyone else's cost, that is very wrong. I do not believe that these guys would have even 5 percent of their wealth had they not been so well-connected.

It is so easy for BN to have closed tenders or no tenders at all and just dish out the spoils to who they like, not who can offer real value to the country.

Freemsia: It looks like Ibrahim Ali is caught - he allegedly has shares in a gaming company. So much for defending Malays and Islam. It's pretty obvious he is doing all this for his personal gain.

Black Mamba: I remember Ascot Sports was into dog racing too. For Ibrahim Ali, touching a dog is ‘haram' but seeing them run races is not ‘haram'.

Ong: How many strokes of the rotan for a Muslim who gets caught for owning shares in a gambling operation?

SedarAlim: Let us not waste time. Umno will defend their wrongdoings by whatever ways possible, whether through remote-guided courts or the usual delaying tactics.

Sugumaran Rajaram: Want to bet that he didn't buy those shares?

Concerned Citizen: Ini orang-orang yang merosakkan bangsa dan agama. Allah akan pastikan ianya hilang darjat kerana meceburi kegiatan haram dan hilang segala pahala yang dia perolehi selama ini. (People like this destroy their community and religion. Allah will ensure that he loses his status for getting involved in ‘haram' activities. All the good deeds he has done will be erased)

Tan Che Wee: If this is true, then he is the greatest hypocrite in Malaysia's history.

Ghkok: I see. So ‘Malay rights' include the right to own shares in gambling companies?

Hisham denies rift with top cop

Teh: Minister Hishammuddin Hussein and IGP Musa Hassan are trading insinuations through the media - and different media at that. So how can their relationship be "fine"?

If it is so fine , then they should have a joint media statement to the public to clarify who exactly is the "third party" in question. Otherwise, public opinion will continue to suspect that there is a problem between them.

A simple denial will not suffice. Malaysians are more sophisticated than that.

Habib RAK: It's official now. The relationship between the home minister and IGP has now been downgraded from "excellent" to just "fine". On March 13, 2010, the home minister said his relationship with IGP was "excellent". Ten days later, he said it was "fine".

Still, he denies there is a rift in the face of his own admission of a downgraded relationship.

Gerald Akt: Lim Kit Siang is correct. If the disturbing 'third party' is not the Home Ministry, who else can it be? The IGP must clarify this as it shows interference in the management of police work, even national security.

MACC opened 1,105 files in over a year - Nazri

Yuvan: The core function of an anti-corruption agency or authority in any government administration is to investigate corrupt people without fear or favour and to fully weed out corruption from all levels of society. Its ultimate mission should be zero corruption.

It is not the number of files opened for investigation but its determination and conviction to investigate thoroughly without fear or favour and irrespective of whatever status and position the people involved in the cases are. That is the only way for the agency to earn the respect of the people and justify its existence.

If the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) thinks that its job is to only open files, then it should feel happy and contended to keep doing just that. It can boast to open 10,000 or even 100,000 files but until it can conduct its investigations freely with the independence and transparency that it requires, MACC will never be able to stand up and face the people as a respectable and dignified agency.

Bapak Toyol: Opening files is not a big problem. I also open many files in my office daily, but at the end of the day, I stamp ‘No Case' on them. That is what MACC has done for Taib Mahmud, Khir Toyo and many other Umno/BN crooks.

Shame on Nazri Abdul Aziz and MACC. Kalau member Umno atau BN , there's ‘No case for lack of evidence'.

Sabah Umno MP takes Zahrain to task

Ferdtan: Good one, Abdul Ghapur Salleh. Fight on. I hope all the mainstream media report Abdul Ghapur's blunt rebuttal. As you see, Zahrain Hashim, it is not easy to earn a living after the treachery of turning against your former colleagues.

Ghkok: As Abdul Ghapur said, "In 1985, I was a Berjaya candidate. PBS wanted to buy me." Is this true? If (PBS president Joseph) Pairin Kitingan is sitting somewhere in the Dewan Rakyat, how come he's not saying something? That's a very serious accusation. It's Pairin's duty to defend his party, is it not?

Karma: Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and Abdul Ghapur did the right thing. They should slam the one that made the accusations. Zahrain is indeed baiting all these MPs to hit out at Anwar Ibrahim, but now the hook has hit his own nose.

Beetle: Minister in charge of Parliament Nazri Aziz should now refer Zahrain to the Committee for Privileges for lying. No more double-standard, Nazri. And definitely no two sets of laws for Umnoputras.
