Kudos to eagle-eyed MP Tony Pua

your say 'Good work, Pua, Make sure a screwdriver does not cost RM2,000 by adding a few zeros. If no one notices, then the difference will be in someone's pocket.'

MP to raise more doubts on tender website

Sarawakian: Well done and good work. This is the stuff that we, the rakyat, want to see and hear. Scrutinise everything that the BN do, because it's our money. It's incredulous to say that the figure had been a careless mistake. It's either a stupid fool who made the mistake or a deliberate attempt to cheat.

Be alert also lest future figures are not deliberately understated and then use it as an excuse to pile on the profits later. With Umno, anything unsavoury is possible.

Rocky: Good work, Tony Pua. We need MPs who are willing to do the right thing, instead of talking rubbish in Parliament. They should do so without fear or favour. BN MPs are sleeping on the job and when they do wake up, it is to talk about nonsensical issues.

I'm so glad Pakatan Rakyat has significant numbers in Parliament because if not, all the Umno/BN MPs, including PM Najib Abdul Razak, will have no respect for the august House.

Dr Mahendran Markandoo: Good work, Pua, Make sure a screwdriver does not cost RM2,000 by adding a few zeros. If no one notices, then the difference will be in someone's pocket.

Magnus: This is well spotted by the bespectacled and eagle-eyed Tony Pua. And I am pretty sure there must be umpteen other discrepancies on that website.

Porchik: MyProcurement launched by Najib is a sound idea. Pua should be given all the support both by Pakatan as well as decent Umno MPs to right the wrong. The more MPs who joins Pua, the better will it be to uncover all the rubbish of BN, and make the rakyat know where and how actually their tax money are spent.

Pigasus Phua: An old saying, "As above, so below", aptly describes the Umno hierarchy. With arrogant, ignorant, myopic and parasitic exemplars enthroned at the top, how can you expect those at the bottom of the food chain to know what integrity and truth mean?

Cala: Many of us have not forgotten the episode involving the supply of Maggie Mee by Tan Chong's founder to the Ministry of Defense in the 1980s wherein a package was priced several folds over what it was worth in the market. Weed out the rent-seekers.

Kgen: Are we sure that the sum was erroneously stated as RM6.5 billion? It could well be correct and denied by the Ministry of Defence.

Justice4all: Do look into the two tenders for supply of printer ink and toners to the police force valued at RM25 million and RM12 million respectively. How do you explain the high consumption of printer ink and toners? Are the police printing a dossier on each citizen?

Ng Tze Yeng: The bulk of Ministry of Tourism expenditure is advertising and promotions, locally and internationally. How come these are not on the website? Oops, I forgot - these are not under the ministry but under the tourism board.

The bulk of KPKK (Information, Arts and Culture) procurements is acquisitions of television content, films and local production. I am unable to see the listings. Oops, I forgot - these are not KPKK but under RTM.

Yum: Seriously, "In fact, the credibility of the portal as of now is already questionable"? Sheesh, talk about making a wild accusation.

Yeap Cheng Liang: Would signing a declaration letter to pledge proper completion of projects and that they are ‘graft-free' eradicate corruption? Come on, PM, can't you think of something more concrete?

Sekigahara No Tatakai: In just one day, the amount can be changed from RM6.5 billion to just RM6.5 million. Pretty scary!

Hklee: Such mistakes! Will the one who made the mistake be disciplined? If the figure was not sighted by Pua, would the federal government pay RM6.5 billion?

Shamsher Singh Gill: Ya, so he pointed out a typo, nothing substantial. Big deal.

Joanna Chee: We the rakyat demand transparency in the government procurement activities. It cannot be classified as state secrets when it's not. Look at Singapore and you will see the transparency. The same in Australia, tenders are published with details.

Andy See: I'm surprise to see most of the big contract was given to Sdn Bhd companies and it looks like they don't have official website.

Expert: MyProcurement portal not up to mark

Al: At least we are consistent in being a 'pale cousin' to Singapore, like how Malaysian cabinet minister qualifications are a 'pale cousin' to their Singaporean counterparts, Malaysia's LRT is a 'pale cousin' to Singapore's MRT, Malaysia's universities are a 'pale cousin' to Singapore's universities, Malaysian ringgit is a 'pale cousin' to Singapore's ringgit, hence Malaysian purchasing power is a 'pale cousin' to Singaporean purchasing power. Only things we have better is food and right-wing ultra extremists.

Sabahan: Malaysia has descended to such a low standard that the mere existence of such a website, never mind that the information is incomplete or plain in error, is hailed as a breakthrough.
