MIC should ask Perkasa to join campaign

vox populi small thumbnail 'I am not surprised with what P Kamalanathan said about Perkasa. After all, Perkasa is hived from Unmo, and Kamalanathan is Umno's choice, not MIC's.'

Kamalanathan defends Malay rights group Perkasa

Artchan: Please invite Ibrahim Ali and ask him to campaign along with you. Maybe you can also ask him to memperkasakan your Indian rights which have been trodden by your own Umno colleagues.

MIC, for more than 50 years in the government, did nothing, and today you want to "memperkasakan" your race and language?

All In The Game: The word ‘mandore' only exists in the Tamil language. You are a Tamil and it most befitting to describe you as one. Before, the Indians were the white man's ‘mandore'. Now they are Umno ‘mandore'. We are not going to vote for someone who is going to take office and defend Malay rights.

SKSs: This guys does not know what is happening around him. An Indian supporting Perkasa's cause? What a lost soul he is. How is this guy supposed to fight for the rights of the Indians when he does not know what Perkasa is actually fighting for?

Since he knows he can't get the Indian votes after the so-called G Palanivel fiasco, he is trying hard to get the Malay votes even if he has to butter up to Perkasa. That is how low MIC has gone to. I hope Indian voters realise what kind of a ‘hero' this guy is to the Indians.

Abacus: I am not surprised with what P Kamalanathan said about Perkasa. After all, Perkasa is hived from Unmo, and Kamalanathan is Umno's choice, not MIC's.

So what Kamalanathan is saying is Umno's stand. I see no way that Kamalanathan can speak up for the Chinese, Indians or Orang Asli.

It's four-cornered fight in Hulu Selangor

Cliew: It's amusing to see Zaid Ibrahim in baju melayu when on other days he preaches a Malaysian agenda. He has obviously put his race first. Politicians, oh politicians. When can you can you ever trust them?

Gk : What's wrong with wearing baju melayu ? If one cares to read 'Saya pun Melayu' authored by Zaid, one can appreciate more the ‘original' Malay features that is fast getting blurred each day with Umno in power.

It is a fact that we, individually, cannot deny our ethnicity, but justice, fair play, respect for each other and contributing earnestly with what we know best are far more important than our ethnicity.

Such qualities are what make us proudly proclaimed as 'Malaysian'. Forget about those in BN, such values are not with them. This Hulu Selangor and the Sibu by-elections are important for us to send signals to those in power, that 'We want Pakatan Rakyat to be the new government at the federal level'.

Let this start with Zaid Ibrahim. He represents Malaysians, not Melayu, not Chinese, not Indian, not Kadazan, not Iban.

Wfcoolie: To all voters of Hulu Selangor, you have heard all the jazz more than once over the past 52 years and they are repeated again and again like old broken record. There is no need to think any more. Truth must prevail and you know by now what the truth is and what's not.

A man of Zaid Ibrahim's caliber comes not often, and you should support him so that he is given the rightful role to play in our august Parliament. Over the years, you have witnessed donkeys and monkeys making a mockery of this institution. We don't need such characters to destroy the good name of the nation. Here's the chance for you to end such destruction.

We need sincere and honest leaders to lead the country out of the path to Zimbabwe, and Zaid is definitely one of those leaders who has the intelligence, honesty and sincerity to do so. We all know his financial standing and for him to give up what would have been his ketuanan benefits and fight for the rakyat.

Malacca Sultanate began in 1278, claims researchers

Geronimo: If it was true, it is strange that Marco Polo, who passed through the Straits of Malacca in 1292 on his way home from China, makes not mention of it.

It is scarcely possible that Polo, who described the Northeast coast of Sumatra in great detail, would have failed to mention Malacca if it had existed at the time. We may conclude that Malacca was not founded until later.

Other travellers passed the same way. Ibn Batuta, an Arab who lived during the 14th century, journeyed to far-off places such as China, India and the south of Spain, and left us valuable accounts of his travels. Ibn Batuta went to China in1345, but makes no mention of Malacca.

It is not possible for Malacca to have been founded in 1278, or any date earlier than 1400.

SAJ: History is always written by the victors. I just feel so sorry for Parameswara. Or was it Iskandar Shah?
