Despite coming under an onslaught bloggers who have posted doctored images in a bit to smear his reputation, Zaid Ibrahim said he will not take legal action as this goes against his stance on freedom of expression.

NONE "You can't press charges on people posting things on their blogs. What charges would you prefer?

"If you are going to sue everybody, you (would) end up doing nothing else with your life," joked the PKR Hulu Selangor candidate at a press conference in Kuala Kubu Baru today.

Zaid again brushed off queries about claims that he gambles, and continued to liken the ownership of race horses to owning fighting cocks.

He added that many Muslim rulers also own horses, reiterating that this is a sport and that he is not a "gambling guy".

"The gambling guys are in Umno. They go to casinos. You can check with the casinos all over the world, you won't find my name but some other names, but I'm not releasing those names," he said, urging reporters to move on from the issue.

Asked to comment on the withdrawal of the two Independent candidates, Zaid said that it made "little difference".

azlan "The fight has always been between PKR and Umno, a difficult fight. If it was with MIC then it would be easy," he said, indicating that he does not think much of BN candidate P Kamalanathan (right) .

Zaid outlined his three-prong mission in Hulu Selangor if elected MP on Sunday, saying he would focus on empowering youth with more opportunities, provide land to the deserving and manage water as a precious natural resource.

Also present was Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim who called Zaid a "value-added candidate" because he brings with him a wealth of experience as a successful lawyer, unlike Kamalanathan.

Kamalanathan's inexperience and the fact that he is a "parachute candidate" works in PKR's favour, he added, because it makes the BN candidate too risky for voters.

Heritage status for KKB?

Selangor exco member for tourism Elizabeth Wong announced that the Selangor government has commissioned a study into the possibility of turning Kuala Kubu Bharu into a Unesco World Heritage Site.

NONE The town (right) , founded in 1928, is the only one in Asia built using the garden city concept, like Adelaide in Australia and Queens in the US. Both have received Unesco recognition, she said.

She noted that, as the patron of heritage conservation NGO Pusaka, Zaid is the best person to lobby the federal government to make the town a national heritage site, on behalf of the people of Hulu Selangor.
