9.00am: PKR de facto leader and economic advisor to Selangor government Anwar Ibrahim will give a speech to some 300 local council officers, state

councillors and Pakatan Rakyat leaders.

11.00am: PKR daily press conference (postponed to 12pm).

NONE 11.00am: Police gunshot victim Norizan Salleh was spotted at the PKR media center in Kuala Kubu Bharu with her lawyer N Surendran. When asked, she said she was there to join the campaign.

PKR has been vocal in highlighting her plight, with the police refusing to take action against those personnel involved in the Oct 30, 2009 shooting incident .

11.30am: Former PKR heavyweight Mohamed Ezam Mohd Nor, now an active member of Umno, will hold a press conference.

NONE 12.15pm: Emergence of new Facebook group poking fun of the Gerakan Anti-PKR’s doctored photograph of Zaid Ibrahim clutching a bottle of alcohol is fast gaining popularity.

Group members are encouraged to use their image manipulation skills to place various objects in Zaid’s hands.

Thus far, he is portrayed, among others, holding a picture of first lady Rosmah Mansor, a Star Wars light sabre and a Hello Kitty lunch box.

12.30pm: Ezam Mohd Nor resurrected past claims of Anwar Ibrahim's 'Jewish links', claiming that during Anwar's tenure as chairperson of Foundation for the Future, he had tried to cover up for World Bank president Paul Wolfowitz.

He said Anwar had written a letter to the World Bank to ask for the secondment of Shaza Riza, the person in which Wolfowitz had an affair with.

"I challenge Anwar to answer or deny this. As muslim, it is treason to his religion," said Ezam, during a press conference at the BN operation centre at Kuala Kubu Baru.

1.30pm: If body language speaks volumes, then Hulu Selangor by-election contenders P Kamalanathan and Zaid Ibrahim are poles apart in their search for votes.

NONE When Zaid visited Ladang Kerling last Sunday, he seemed detached from the crowd, standing with his hands at his side until photographers jollied him into a couple of poses.

In contrast, Kamalanathan despite being a political greenhorn was affalable. On one of his many walkabouts, he was able to approach constituents without much difficulty.

"Help me out… give me a chance, if it doesn’t work you can vote me out after two years," he said to everyone he met in Kuala Kubu Bharu yesterday.

2.00pm: PKR candidate Zaid Ibrahim will hold a special 'meet the press' session.

2.15pm: International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapha Mohamed likens PKR candidate Zaid Ibrahim as barang terbuang (thrash) while the BN candidate P Kamalanathan is termed barang baik (good product).

Mustapha claimed that Zaid is an elitist who cannot comprehend the needs of the common man, while Kamalanathan is down-to-earth and likeable.

He said this to reporters at the Information Ministry media centre in Kuala Kubu Baru.

2.30pm: BN candidate P Kamalanathan will visit Taman Cempaka and Rumah Murah Datuk Harun before moving on to Ladang Serendah and Serendah town (3.30pm).

NONE 3.00pm: Zaid Ibrahim and PKR election director Fuziah Salleh criticises the Election Commission for transferring 14,000 voters to different polling stations without informing them.

They urged the EC to either move the voters back to their original polling centres or dispatch mobile counters to inform voters of their new polling stations.

“Is this how they run a country? Is this how they run a fair election?” asked Zaid, during a press conference in Kuala Kubu Baru. 

4.00pm: According to a PKR spokesperson Chua Yee Ling, Election Commission officers took down two banners targeted at a Chinese audience, purportedly because its contents were stirring up racial sentiments.

Chua said that the banner quoted Selangor Umno deputy liaison chief Noh Omar’s speech at the state BN convention where he implored that the Chinese and Indians should be grateful for their citizenship.

According to eyewitnesses, EC officers were accompanied by eight police personnel in riot gear.

NONE 4.20pm: Selangor PKR information chief Tan Yee Kew ( in grey vest ) claimed that the police have set up road blocks at all 16 Orang Asli villages in Hulu Selangor constituency as a form of intimidation.

Hulu Selangor district police chief Supt Norel Azmi Yahya Afendy denies this. He said only 10 beat bases have been set up in the constituency, of which two are near Orang Asli villages.

He said the bear bases near Orang Asli villages are manned by a special unit consisting of personnel from the Senoi Praaq tribe to ease communication. 

5.00pm: Zaid will be in Bandar Bukit Sentosa before visiting the neighbouring Bandar Sungai Buaya.

6.13pm: Kelantan Menteri Besar Nik Aziz Nik Mat, who is also PAS spiritual leader, becomes a poster boy (literally!) for PKR and BN. His images were seen on billboards put up by both parties to attract voters' attention.

NONE The BN billboard showed Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor visiting Nik Aziz in hospital - the same photo which was used during the Bagan Pinang by-election October last year.

 

Whereas the PKR poster shows big mugshot of Nik Aziz with words Berdoalah Untuk Kemenangan Datuk Zaid (Pray for Zaid's victory).

6.30pm: At a pasar malam (night market) in Bukit Sentosa, PKR party workers distributed flyers explaining their candidate Zaid Ibrahim's background and defending Anwar Ibrahim against the sodomy charges he is facing.

NONE One of the flyers had snapshots of a medical report saying that there is no conclusive evidence to show that the complainant in the sodomy case, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, had been sodomised.

Many were seen taking the time to read the flyers while the traders joked that at least PKR had the courtesy to send over 'pretty young things' compared to their rivals.

7.00pm: DAP leaders and members of Parliament including Lim Kit Siang will attend two ceramah , held concurrently, in Kampung Baru Asam Kumbang, Kuala Kubu Bharu and Kampung Damai, Serendah.

7.30pm: Pro-BN Malaysian Makkal Sakthi Party will join the campaign.

7.40pm: BN candidate P Kamalanathan said opposition is attacking him on his university degree because they are "bankrupt of ideas".

Asked if it was justified considering the BN's smear tactics against PKR's Zaid Ibrahim, he asked "are they (BN) lying?"

"I did not start it," he said, speaking before an event attended by the Prime Minister in Bukit Sentosa tonight.

Kamalanathan brought a copy of his certificate with him ( photo above ).

8.00pm: Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak will have dinner with BN candidate P Kamalanathan and party workers.

Najib, who is also the Selangor Umno liaison chief, is scheduled to visit the coalition's operation rooms in Batang Kali (9pm), Kuala Kubu Bharu (10pm) and Hulu Bernam (11pm).

8.30pm: Independent MP and Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali to attend a ceramah .

8.33pm: Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak told a crowd of 700 at Bukit Sentosa that two former PKR MPs who followed him on his trip to the US came to his room one night and “revealed everything”.

He was referring to Bayan Baru MP Zahrain Mohd Hashim and Kulim Bandar Baru MP Zulkifli Noordin.

“I know everything... even up to (the opposition’s) underwear,” he quipped.

9.15pm: Traffic is at a standstill at Sg Choh has people spillover to the streets to catch a glimpse of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

9.40pm: Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak hails his trip to the US as a success because Malaysia was among nine countries which discussed bilateral issues with US President Barack Obama.

"This is a form of acknowledgement for Malaysia. If our country is not stable... I believe Obama would not have invited us,"

10.15pm: Deputy premier Muhyiddin Yassin is at Ladang Changkat Asah, a rubber plantation.

"They say that if we win, we won't fulfil our promises. It is not going to be the same this time," he said.

About 200 people are here, majority Indians living in the vicinity of estate which a bordering Tanjung Malim, Perak.

11.55pm PKR Youth leader Fariz Musa and four others were arrested for allegedly tearing down BN posters. According the party sources, police detained them around 7.30pm.
