  • The reformasi detainees held under the Internal Security Act at the Kamunting Detention Centre in Perak were preparing to go home soon after the Federal Court's ruling on Sept 6 that their detention was unlawful.

"Over the past week, they have packed their bags and are sending all their things home," said detainee Saari Sungib's wife, Aliza Jaffar when contacted today.

Aliza said that she had brought back her husband's belongings last Wednesday when she visited him. There were not many things, mainly books, as there was a restriction on what could be brought for detainees.

"What do they have? They only have Maggi [instant noodles] and soap. They are being treated like prisoners," she said.
