The defeated candidate for the recent Hulu Selangor parliamentary by-election, Zaid Ibrahim, said that he has no intention of going for the deputy president's post in PKR.

"As I said last year, my political mission is to strengthen Pakatan Rakyat and help the opposition to form their central policies," he said in his most recent blog post.

He added that it is not important to him who holds the leadership positions in the party.

NONE "The issues of leadership are in the hands of the leaders of Pakatan Rakyat and not a personal matter for me to determine," Zaid ( right ) explained.

He claimed that he is only prepared to assist and help the party as long the need is there.

"It is my hope that the people will be more confident in Pakatan Rakyat in our efforts to take over the government leadership of the country.

"The most important thing now is to convince the people that Pakatan Rakyat is a better alternative to restore our government system compared to Barisan Nasional," he said.

The former law minister made this declaration in the light of a report that claimed he is vying for the deputy president post against Azmin Ali.

It has also been reported that current deputy president Syed Husin Ali will not defend his position in the coming December polls.
