'Sibu may be a lost cause for DAP'

vox populi small thumbnail 'But if the political consciousness of the rakyat there can be heightened towards the agenda of change, it can be considered a battle won.'

Gung-ho Wong, modest Narawi and shy Lau

Sentinel: In the last general elections, Sarawakians disappointed the rest of Malaysia and they will do the same this time - 25 years of being brainwashed by Pek Mo (white hair) until they don't know what's happening around them.

Loyal Malaysian: Analysts have pointed out the Ibans in the Sibu constituency tipped the balance in favour of BN at the March 8, 2008 general election.

I have no high hopes. I just wish more rakyat of all racial denominations shall see through the deceit of the BN, their misuse of power, the corruption and cronyism in their administration, the use of the institutions of state to bully the native settlers for their land.

Sibu may be a lost cause for DAP, and by extension Pakatan Rakyat, but if the political consciousness of the rakyat there can be heightened towards the agenda of change, it can be considered a battle won.

WandererAUS: YB Lim (Kit Siang), it is better to be a underdog than be a running dog of Umno. If Pakatan continues with their message of clean government and quality candidates, the message will eventually reach the electorate.

Zaid unfazed despite rebuke from religious council

Habib RAK: Zaid Ibrahim uses sound and logical explanation to bring forward his views. He explains himself and it allows for clear understanding and he also permits opposing views. On the other hand, Perkasa and its like are emotional, irrational and confrontational in their views and approach.

Nevertheless, I did enjoy the drama that unfolded yesterday in front of PKR's headquarters. One gusty single lady taking on the goons was really a priced event to watch. By the way, where were all the police officers? There is actually a balai polis next to the PKR HQ.

SKS: Can someone please direct Perkasa the way to Kelantan. I think they are lost. They were supposed to be in front of HUSM (Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia) by now.

Oh I forgot, Najib have yet to call them. I think this Kelantan issue should open the eyes of some people on where exactly Perkasa's loyalty - monarchy or the real Malay rulers (Umno).

Aramsa: In Kelantan, they got no respect for the sultan. In Selangor, they say we must respect the sultan. Which one is correct and which one is rubbish?

Another teen shooting - police say sorry

Gunasekaran Muthusamy: Remember the case of a man shot while returning from Seremban after work because he did not stop when asked to by police on a dark road because there was a snatch theft earlier. He was not involved but the police shot him anyway.

I have been told by a constable that I was lucky for not being shot when I did not notice he flagging motorcylists in Bangsar in 1977 as I continued going at about 40km/hr! That thought still makes me shudder even now.

Dood: Just because they may be trying to ride away from the cops on their bikes and even if they were swerving in front of the police cars in pursuit to "taunt" the police, that does not give the police the right to shoot at them.

The police were never in any justifiable danger, so that gives them no right to use their guns.

Ubi Wan Kenobi: By acknowledging that his men overreacted and apologising to the family immediately, SAC1 Osman Salleh has done much to redeem the tattered image of PDRM. This officer has a bright future in the force - post-Musa Hassan!

Eugene: Kudos to Osman Salleh! See what a little humility and right thinking could do? If the IGP, CPO of Selangor and the home minister has a grain of humility and fairness in their conduct, we might even see a little better Malaysia.

Keturunan Malaysia : Thank you so much SAC1 Osman Salleh for being a real man who makes no bone about a wrong being just that... a wrong! No one say all the policemen are useless or bad.

What the rakyat desire is for the bad and the ugly to be weeded out from the force, as and when there is any, without fear or favor so that we can begin to respect and trust the police as they intended to be.
