Police scuttle Pakatan talk, PAS leader arrested
Selangor PAS youth chief Hasbullah Ridzwan was arrested by police for allegedly failing to disperse when ordered to do so at last night’s Pakatan Rakyat Yahudi dan Judi (Jews and gambling) talk in Batu Caves.
The police has arrested Selangor PAS youth chief Hasbullah Ridzwan for allegedly failing to disperse as ordered at last night’s Pakatan Rakyat ‘Yahudi dan Judi’ (Jews and gambling) talk at Batu Caves.
Hasbullah told Malaysiakini late last night that he was arrested at around 8pm while gathering with about 20 others in the compound of the Muhibbah Complex Hall in Taman Bolton.
Also arrested were three of the Islamic party’s grassroots leaders - Syarhan Humaizi Halim, Damanhuri Dol and Afyan Mat Rawi - for allegedly obstructing police officers from discharging their duties.
The quartet were brought to the Gombak police district headquarters before being released on bail at around 11.50pm.
Hasbullah says that the talk, which was organised by the PAS information bureau, was forced to move to Selayang Stadium 10km away.
Venue was enclosed
"The police closed down this place, so we had to change to the alternative venue at the Selayang Stadium (

). They say we don’t have a permit and the hall was in an open area.
"But the fact is the hall is enclosed and is located within a fenced area," stressed Hasbullah.
The talk, which focused on the sports betting licence issue and the fatal Israeli attack on Gaza-bound aid convoy Floating Flotilla, eventually went ahead at Selayang and attracted around 2,000 people despite the last-minute venue change.
It featured PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
