Missing jet engines: 'Tharmendran a scapegoat'

your say 'How can he and just another guy manage to smuggle a jet engine which is larger than an elephant out of the air base to be sold in a far away country? He must be David Copperfield to able to do such a disappearing act.'

Dad: Son beaten like a cow, framed for jet engine theft

Cala: This is absolutely shocking. The truth is nobody bought the story when it was first reported that an ordinary air force sergeant together with an outside contractor could steal two jet engines from a high security area.

And now the Air Force generals have a lot to explain whether N Nagarajah's allegation that his son Tharmendran had been tortured into confessing the theft. My question is, with Nagarajah at 71, would you want to tell lies?

What a sad day to Malaysians in witnessing another institution falls to its knees. But that is not end of the story. As lawyer M Manogaran rightly pointed out, is sensitive Air Force information leaked too? Is somebody up there selling Malaysia away?

In time of war, the Air Force has an unwavering duty to protect us. In the interim, who is to guard them against selling our interest away?

Louis: Just like in the A Kugan case, Tharmendran is the easiest scapegoat. How can he and another guy manage to smuggle a jet engine which is larger than an elephant out of the air base to be sold in a far away country? He must be David Copperfield to able to do such a disappearing act.

DontPlayGod: How come the then defence minister (Najib Razak) was not interrogated by the police and MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission)? Please don't continue to treat the rakyat as idiots, Umno.

Call me Jibby: The whopping RM150,000 bail must be a joke. It worth more than two low-cost flats. Tharmendran is not a serial killer or rapist, and he is still under investigation. When the government 'promised' to leave no stone unturned and probe into this matter, someone got to take the blame. You're expecting the defence minister in 2007 (Najib) to be investigated?

Tharmendran is just an unlucky victim. It is jet engines that are stolen, not jewellery, watch or laptop which can easy sold in black market on the street. Can you sell a stolen jet engine on the street? Who is going to buy? How can a person 'smuggle' a jet engine out? Hiding it in a match box?

Yuvan: RMAF (Royal Malaysian Air Force) bases are high security and sensitive areas. I am sure RMAF has stringent procedures for its personnel as to what they can bring in or take out of the bases, even if it is just a water bottle.

To move jet engines out of its base would have required elaborate planning and approvals given by many of its personnel. It would be impossible all this to be done by just one sergeant.

But if at the end of the day, it can be proven that only a sergeant masterminded and carried out the theft single-handedly (with just an external accomplice), then I would love to see some Hollywood movie makers make an irresistible offer to Tharmendran to buy "the story" from him and, may be, make him a multi-millionaire.

At least, it will compensate him for all the pain and agony suffered by him.

Fairnessforall: Tharmendran is just a sergeant. Tell me how on earth he was able to steal the jet engines. Obviously someone higher up is involved. Now they decided to make an Indian the scapegoat.

It's the same like the Altantuya Shaariibuu case. Two individuals - whose face were covered and till today nobody knows how they look - were charged without any reasonable reason as to why they would want to blow her up. They are probably given new identities and now living a good life with the few million ringgit paid for taking the rap.

Tharmendran is just unfortunate that, instead of paying him millions of ringgit to take the rap, they beat him up and force him to take the blame.

Anonymous: Without this piece of news, we the rakyat already know that he is a scapegoat. How on earth can such a huge jet engine be taken out and sold outside Malaysia if not with the help of many others, especially those in the higher position.

Fairplayer: That's how those sadists allegedly tortured their victims and scapegoats all the time, I guess - get them to wear a helmet and then club the head with the helmet on! That's how they inflict internal injury on their victims of choice. Was TBH (Teoh Beng Hock) and A Kugan dealt with the same or similar way?

Kgen: Can a low-ranking Air Force sergeant who is not even an officer steal two jet engines? Charging him for this crime is ridiculous - he has no capability, authority or logistics to do it. If the Air Force has proof, why do they need to torture him to confess?

This is yet another sandiwara by Malaysia Bolehwood production.

Kancil: Only this morning, I was reading in the media the new Suhakam chief telling the rakyat to judge him and his new team by their actions. God Almighty is so benevolent, He has given the Suhakam chief this opportunity. Let's see your actions.
