your say 'Abu Kassim, this perception that you are the enemy was created by you, so it is you who must change the perception to re-instil faith in MACC.'

MACC chief: Don't fight us, fight corruption

Tan Kian Khim: Abu Kassim, are you fighting corruption or are you fighting us - the Malaysian people? Do you even know why MACC is looked upon with such contempt and hatred?

Everything MACC and its predecessor the ACA have done has been to go against the people: MACC wilfully ignores public complaints and openly helps Umno‑BN cover up extensively‑documented cases of gross corruption and abuses of power. At the same time, MACC also openly abuses its own institutional powers to help Umno‑BN undermine Pakatan Rakyat‑led state governments.

While Teoh Beng Hock's is body lies cold in a grave and Umno warlords like Dr Mohd Khir Toyo mock the justice system, MACC is busy 'investigating' a cake given to Kelantan MB Nik Aziz Nik Mat. How do you expect the people not to treat MACC with contempt?

Luke Skywalker: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief Abu Kassim Mohamed, said: "The public must come forward and fight corruption, together with the MACC." Yes, the public has come forward and it has been shouting for investigations on the Scorpene submarine scandal and many other scandals.

Why is the private investigator P Balasubramaniam, a Malaysian, called to France to give a statement while MACC ignores his offer? Take it on, Abu Kassim. Otherwise, just keep your mouth shut and resign.

Anonymous: Abu Kassim, we should fight Umno because they don't fight corruption. Why indeed do we fight MACC? Because you not only don't fight corruption, you also decide who is corrupt and who is not!

Jamah Lubah: MACC must concentrate on solving and bringing those high-profile cases as top priority, instead of targeting small fries. Give some clues or developments on Khir Toyo's mansion , the submarines purchase, the money found with a minister's political secretary , abuses of power in the award of contracts, the Shah Alam general hospital scandal, ‘I help you, you help me' election promise, and the many reports against Sarawak chief minister , etc.

Why is it so hard and difficult for MACC to quiz top BN figures?

Abil: MACC must instil confidence that it is fighting corruption without fear or favour. We don't need your ‘advice', because the rakyat is fully aware of our responsibility. It is you that is under the microscope after going up only against the opposition.

Many in the BN are flaunting their ill-gotten wealth and are left to enjoy it. MACC is only going after the small fries. Abu Kassim, this perception (that you are the enemy) was created by you, so it is you who must change the perception so as to re-instil faith in MACC.

Homo Sapien: How can we fight corruption if MACC itself is doubted (by the public). Even if the snake's venom is removed, the character of the snake will remain.

Bridget Dcruz: When Bala came forward, you retreated, and now you have the gall to say that the public must come forward and fight together with you to eradicate corruption? Go jump from Plaza Masalam.

Freemsia: Yes, fighting corruption is indeed a noble responsibility. But what really is ticking the public off is the way the MACC targets the opposition, only low-level officers, scapegoats, but is totally powerless when taking action against the big fishes, especially those who are BN bigwigs. That - is not noble.

Bertrand Russell: No one in their right mind will ever fight against an institution that is out to get the corrupt. We do not want to see our nation becoming another Greece. I, for one, have no trust in MACC and I do not see it as an honourable institution after observing it over the last one year.

I need some answers: Why are the plunderers left off the hook without even taking them to the court? How come the children of ministers have become instant millionaires? Why is MACC quiet on ministers who have lined their pockets and have real estate or landed property all over the world? Why does MACC target only the opposition?

MACC can only gain the trust of the people if it is fair, steadfastly carries out its duties, and serves only God as their boss.

Cala: I like reading Abu Kassim's PR rhetoric of "together we can do it, changes must begin now and it should start within us". Good. Let MACC start with the Khir Toyo case and prove to us their sincerity. Show to us that they walk the talk.

But can they? Don't just talk Abu Kassim. Please charge Khir Toyo for the illegally amassed RM24 million mansion in Shah Alam.

Ipohcrite: I cannot recall a time when the public have ever fought the MACC other than the occasions when the MACC engaged in selective prosecution and targeted the small fry but let the big fish swim free.

Look, if you can't do your job without fear or favour, then let somebody else do the job. Just don't point a finger at us or come up with some patronising sloganeering like "fight corruption, don't fight MACC."
