So if Najib doesn’t continue to treat Malays as poor, Umno will lose the Malay vote. But who will the Malay vote then go to? Pakatan? But Pakatan wants to end handouts.
Perkasa issues 'ultimatum' to Najib
DannyLoHH: The drama has indeed played out according to script. As predicted, Perkasa jumped into the limelight again in due time. As usual, Perkasa only mentioned that Malay economic privileges are enshrined in the federal constitution but never bothered to list out where and which part of the federal constitution mention those things.
Please enlighten me, since Perkasa claims to be championing the federal constitution, at least point out exactly which part of the constitution mentions that rich Malays are entitled to seven percent discount for luxury property, and are guaranteed perpetual 30 percent equity to be given to the likes of Perkasa for free without having to work a sweat?
Can the economic cake be grown bigger by robbing and discriminating against non- bumiputras? Help should be channelled to the needy, not to the rich Malays, when the poor have to toil and suffer a hand-to-mouth existence.
Alfred Charles:
Can we discard this race issue and call ourselves Malaysians under 1Malaysia? Poverty affects all races and therefore all those who are in poverty irrespective of race must be given aid and no one should grudge. For 1Malaysia to be a reality, organisations like Perkasa should be banned from the face of this earth. What warning are you issuing to the PM by saying he risks “losing our support" at the 13th general elections. If you do stand for elections, you will lose your deposit for having a muddled and warped interpretation of Malay constitutional rights.
The railroading has to stop if the nation is to be restored to its former glory. It's individuals like you that are holding the tide of progress and want the country to descend back to its primitive years. Move forward to make 1Malaysia a reality respected by other countries.
Pure Malaysian: It is becoming obvious that Perkasa’s Ibrahim Ali is in fact not championing Umno/Melayu rights, but rather sabotaging PM Najib Abdul Razak's administration. For all you know, he is a Trojan horse implanted by Anwar Ibrahim into the BN to destroy BN before the 13th general elections.
Kgen:
Perkasa is obsessed with racial distribution of wealth but not in creating wealth. Malays should be ashamed of this man. As for losing the Malay vote, where would the Malay vote go to? Is Pakatan Rakyat more racist than BN?Vijay: I just love this guy. So if PM Najib Abdul Razak does not continue to treat the Malays as beggars, Umno will lose the Malay vote. Fine. But pray tell, who will the Malay vote then go to? Pakatan? But Pakatan wants to end the handouts.
Multi-Racial: The problem with this country is that there are still too many racist leaders. MCA asks on behalf of the rich Chinese and Perkasa asked on behalf of the rich Malays. At the least, the poor Chinese remain poor and the poor Malays remain poor. Time has come for everyone to focus on what is good for the country and not what is good for a race or a class of people.
We have to improve our efficiency and cost effectiveness to compete with others. We try to bring wealth to the country and not individual pockets. We welcome the government’s help to those who need help. Improve the education system, and all Malaysians will benefit, including Malays who form the majority.
Scholarships and school textbooks and food subsidy programmes should only be given to the poor. All cabinet ministers' children must attend government schools. If these schools are not good enough for them, then they are not good enough for Malaysians. If so, then they need to put in effort to improve them.
Anonymous: How to juggle between competing interests? The only way is to do what is right, i.e. what is right for the country and its future irrespective of personal, selfish and racial interests. If not, Malaysia will always wallow in mediocrity and be bypassed by global development based on merit, excellence and hard work.
Foo Wy Len: Ibrahim Ali, apart from just rubbishing everything that you do not agree with, can you for once participate in a rational and intelligent discourse? Or maybe this is too much to expect of you?
Dawn: Perkasa keeps harping on the Malay community facing economic problems, but they have not been able to produce any concrete evidence of their claims. If they claim many Malays are still poor, what percentage of them are poor as compared to that of the other communities? What are the income gaps within these communities? If after 50 years, we still can't discuss our problems based on facts but on political rhetoric, this country is doomed.
Key Poh Ji:
It is a sickening situation here in Malaysia up to to date. Many neighbouring countries are trying their very best to outperform one another in terms of economic growth. Our so-called leaders are quarrelling and arguing as how to keep and protect their preferred ethnic cronies’ share of economic cake which is shrinking now.Swipenter: The economic woes of the Malays have been addressed for the last 40 years under the NEP. What is to be addressed now is the declining competitiveness of the country and the bastardisation of the NEP, government institutions and the civil service.
Najib must have the guts, leadership and political will to make the likes of Perkasa eat cake and address issues of needs rather than of race. Najib, you cannot make different speeches according to the crowd on the same issues. Remember we are watching you closely and your mainstream media is of little use to you in this day and age. Nobody screws the ordinary Malays harder than Umno.
