'The PKR MPs certainly have a right to make their own choice, but why gang up and try to pre-empt the impending contest in an effort to influence the grassroots of the party?'
PKR MPs, senators back Azmin for No 2
Anonymous: Who has guts to do the right thing? Who dares to put principles above self-interest? Who can command the greater respect among Malaysians? Finally, who has the charisma to win the hearts, minds and souls of the majority of the people?
Yes, guts, principles, respect and charisma are four basic qualities I would look for in a leader. If has guts, he will dare do what is necessary in spite of the great odds against him. In other words, he must be fearless, furious, fierce.
If he has principles, he will stick to them, rain or shine, thunder or lightning. He is unwavering under any circumstances whatsoever, and he will not sacrifice his principles for political expediency. In other words, he will put his reputation, his office, even his life on the line.
If he has respect for people of all races and all races have respect for him, then he is the man for all seasons. In other words, the respect must be earned by deeds, not by words. If he has charisma, he will sway all!
Al Tugauw: This certainly looks well-orchestrated and reminiscent of Umno-style tactics - reminds one of how the late Ghafar Baba was defeated when he vied for the Umno deputy president's post.
What are these PKR elected and non-elected representatives doing ganging up on Zaid Ibrahim even before Mohd Azmin Ali has announced his candidacy? It looks rather unbecoming and shows a lack of principles. They certainly have a right to make their own choice, but why try to pre-empt the impending contest in an effort to influence the grassroots of the party?
PKR can do without any such cabals. Hopefully the grassroots of the party know better and will surprise them and us by electing Zaid, who would make a much better deputy prime minister than Azmin should PKR and Pakatan Rakyat make it in the 13 th general election.
I shudder the thought that Azmin becomes PM after Anwar Ibrahim. I don't get very good vibes from him, nor do I trust him at all. This man looks more like a manipulator than a leader. Expect an escalation of the personal attacks ala Umno against Zaid.
Clear Soul: What's the point of we fighting for PKR when in the end, it becomes the second Umno in the making.
Look back at Azmin's track record in PKR. Have there been any major abuse by the "force" onto him? He is as corrupt as the Umno leaders out there. What has been his struggle? He is just another opportunist, and arrogant one too.
Try asking the grassroots - no one supports him. I am sure those who supported him are clinging for survival in the party, like the Kelana Jaya MP Loh Gwo Burne. The person who hasn't been in the party long enough to win but who can really contribute to the betterment of the rakyat is Zaid Ibrahim. He's the rightful person for the post.
Pemerhati: This is strange behaviour by the 18 PKR MPs. Something similar happened in Umno when Anwar Ibrahim and Ghafar Baba were fighting for the same post and a large number of Umno leaders came out openly to support Anwar.
One is tempted to think that Anwar or Azmin might have organised this show of support for Azmin Ali. In any case, it does not look like a good move because if Zaid is voted in by the members, then these 18MPs will have a rather uneasy relationship with Zaid, which will not be good for Pakatan.
ISA@Penyu: What do you expect from PKR, they're all now aligning themselves to be in the good books of Azmin since he is backed by Anwar. It's the same Umno politics. Why can't they just let the members decide? Why must these leaders try to decide the end result and show the whole world that there are camps, etc, in PKR?
Suddenly all the MPs and senators become vocal on who should lead, but they were never vocal when it comes to helping the rakyat or coming out with a good blueprint for the rakyat. At the end of the day, PKR will have all the ex-Umno mn leading the party, and they'll do the same things they did in Umno.
A tiger can't change its paws. With all this in-fighting, PKR will not get to Putrajaya and will die a fast death.
Patriot: My advice to all the candidates vying for posts is to fight fair and clean and not use underhanded tactics and character assassination to gain the upper hand and popularity. Your intention should be to serve, not to be served. We have seen enough of it for the past 53 years.
Be prepared to work hard and carry the vision of the party to greater heights. If you cannot meet the rakyat's aspirations and yearnings for change when gaining a position of responsibility and management, then it is pointless to be a leader. Do not let us down. Good luck to all in the coming party's election. Let the better person win.
ONG: Some say that both No 1 and No 2 will be ex-Umno. So what? What's relevant is whether they have got Umno out of their mind systems or not. In any case, without all the ex-Umno members, where would PKR be now?
Those who are advocating getting non-ex-BN for the top two posts in PKR appear to be non-PKR members, who are basically empty vessels making loud but meaningless noises. Therefore, they are making totally irrelevant statements, comments and suggestions.
It will more meaningful for them to join PKR as members and then start lobbying for non-ex-BN members for all the top posts, not just the top two posts .
