Nurul for No 2: Conspiracy or publicity stunt?

vox populi small thumbnail 'Nurul shouldn't hide in silence. Are you or aren't you interested in contesting for No 2? Don't be coy - it only shows your indecisiveness.'

Conspiracy to deny Nurul's candidacy?

Baronhawk: The PKR divisions were tardy in sending in their nominations results to the headquarters. Why the delay? Volunteers who acted as monitors were supposed to send in their results after the division annual general meetings (AGMs).

It was said several times in the media that Oct 10 was the last date for divisions to submit their election and nomination results and Oct 16 was the last day for candidates to fill their nomination forms and accept candidacy. Even if there were no briefings, logically, you report in after your AGM.

Is this conspiracy to prevent Nurul or an attempt for a publicity stunt by some?

Ferdtan: The leadership of the six divisions who missed out the listing of the nominees before the Oct 10 deadline must be replaced as they are not diligent in their work. If they don't read the circular sent out on July 19, spelling out the Oct 10 deadline, then they have no right to make the unjustifiable complaint in public. They should be disciplined.

On another note, Nurul Izzah Anwar should not hide in silence. Please put the controversial issue to rest: Are you or are you not interested in contesting for the No 2 post? Don't be like a coy politician - it only shows your indecisiveness.

Henry Lau: The circular is clear. Deadline is deadline. If PKR cannot get this straight, how can we entrust them with the government? This is not North Korea. Dynastic inclination must be nipped at the bud. I am getting disenchanted by the day.

Anon: If the division chief is not agreeable to division members' nominations, he can delay the submission of the nominations and there goes the much-touted ‘one man, one vote' principle. That's why an election committee worth its salt would have spotted this and taken over the responsibility.

Is it too much to send a reminder 48 hours before the so-called deadline? Who is really in charge in arbitrating feuds? The executive/secretariat? The toothless election commission or the party top leadership? Oh, I forgot, it's Anwar Ibrahim's party - everybody else, please stand down. How to govern others when you cannot govern yourselves?

Chris: What is so difficult, Nurul? You may be intelligent but very inexperienced. See what is happening in PKR now? Zaid Ibrahim and gang are laughing. My advice to Nurul, please listen to your father and mother. You are still too young and there is much more for you to learn.

Zaid is trying to create the impression that the daughter is fighting against her father and mother, or that mother and daughter are fighting against Anwar and his protege.

My question to Nurul - why give Zaid the bullet to shot your family and party?

Equinox: Perhaps it is just as well that Nurul was ‘disqualified'. The whole candidacy situation is beginning to give the impression that PKR's leadership line-up is rather anaemic. I like to think that this is not the case.

I like young Nurul and think she has gumption and passion for leadership and would make invaluable contributions to lead Malaysia out of the present rut. But she is too young for top echelon positions.

Besides, let not PKR be a family party. Malaysians as a whole are somewhat wary of the country being dominated by a family or a few oligarches. I am sure she will play an important role if Pakatan Rakyat ever forms the government, but not as part of a tripartite family show involving the father, mother and daughter.

DOC: If PKR was cash-rich like Umno, I'm sure other Umno diseases will inflict PKR, namely backstabbing, character assassination, and money politics.

PKR's assets are not in their current crop of leaders, such as Anwar, Azmin Ali, Khalid Ibrahim or Zaid. PKR's assets are in the next generation of young, up-and-coming leaders such as Nurul Izzah, Tian Chua, Latheefa Koya, S Manikavasagam, etc.

The future of PKR lies in their hands for which they must raise to free PKR from the binding chains of Umno-ism.

HRP wants to cut a deal with Pakatan

Deva Guru: Don't trust the HRP (Human Rights Party). No political party or NGO could help the Indians, but the Indians themselves. Admitting them would bring the same consequences as how Ibrahim Ali betrayed PAS. After winning the elections, HRP will do the same. They have realised that they would not win any seats if they stand by themselves.

Stop playing politics and with the Indian mind. Don't just fight for Indians, do something worthwhile for Indians. HRP and Hindraf always complain about Indians not getting seats in the local universities - with all the donations that HRP has collected, can't you sponsor one Indian child in a private university?

Call me Jibby: These are very big words coming from the clowns that declared war on Pakatan Rakyat and burnt all the bridges. These clowns always put a knife on someone's neck while demanding 'attention' and 'help'.

I am sure there will be no negotiations as Hindraf will only give Pakatan an ultimatum and tell Pakatan to follow their plan or face a three-corner fight.

Gov't puts off GST ahead of possible snap polls

Sabawak: PM Najib Abdul Razak will not table the goods and services tax (GST) till after the general elections. If he does, it will spell the downfall of the BN. I dare the government to introduce the GST.

Wipe out corruption, reclaim all corrupt monies, the billions that have gone astray, and then we'll see if the GST is necessary.

This government is now going bankrupt, they have stolen Petronas money, they have taken our EPF money and now they want to steal in the open with GST?

Anonymous: Najib's administration is all talk and no action. We need leaders with guts to make tough decision for the good of the country, not sweet talkers.

Talk about zero tolerance for racism, but no action. Talk about NEM, no action. Talk about free press, no action. Talk about improvement in public transportation system, no action. The list goes on. No action.

We have a government who have ministers who are good for nothing, except in spending taxpayer's monies .
