KJ: Pakatan playing 'monstrous', 'cheap' politics
Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said a “monstrous politics” was taking shape between the Opposition coalition as its component party members battle over their respective ideological turf.
Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said a “monstrous politics” was taking shape between the Opposition coalition as its component party members battle over their respective ideological turf.
Khairy - who earlier in his speech availed himself liberally to Islamic terms and historical analogies - resorted to Greek and Roman mythology and compared Pakatan Rakyat to the three-headed monster 'Cerberus' that guards the gates of Hades.
The mythological beast’s three heads perpetually clash with each other, stopping only after they’ve bitten each other to death.
“Such monstrous politics is taking form. DAP will never share the same ultimate aspirations as PAS,” Khairy said in his policy speech at the movement's annual general assembly this morning.
“Although some PAS leaders may say that the formation of the Islamic state is not a priority (just) to please DAP, if we were to ask PAS Youth, they remain unwavering to this struggle.
“DAP, on the other hand, continues to be rejected by Malays who cannot accept their chauvinistic dreams of bringing down the pillars and fundamentals of this nation’s existence," he said.
Addressing the 795 delegates attending the youth movement’s annual meeting at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Khairy also reminded them of the controversies that Pakatan state governments had courted, from DAP's support letters and the rise in water prices in Penang and Kedah.
Pakatan blame games 'cheap tactics'
Pakatan parties do not walk the talk despite issuing lofty promises in their last general elections manifesto, said Khairy.
“The opposition does not walk its own talk... In the last general election manifesto, DAP made umpteen promises that the party would ensure safe, cheap and adequate supply of water.
“PAS, on the other hand, pledged to deal with the issue of rising living costs and prices of goods.
“But have they kept their promises and pledges? Clearly not," he said.
Firing one salvo after another at the coalition partners, the Rembau MP declared the people had gotten fed up with the opposition’s blame game.
“In Selangor, the sand theft scandal not only harmed the earth and the people’s trust, but also laid bare severe weaknesses in the state administration... only after Umno exposed them on many fronts did they finally concede that the sand theft was real.
“Not only did they admit (they were at fault) only after being caught trying to wiggle their way out of a tricky situation - the Pakatan government in Selangor even had the nerve to ask the federal government to solve the problem," he said.
Turning the heat further on Pakatan, Khairy also said the people can see through their “cheap tactics” of blaming BN for each of their inefficiencies.
“The people are also getting fed up with the excuses and ploys, pinning everything bad and wrong on BN. What we have been witnessing is that their only uniting asset is the politics of blame or a politics that faults everything that BN does.
“The problems pertaining to religion, society, economics and unity – all are to do with BN. Are we to suppose that we will experience economic growth through this politics of blame? Will the people be united by the slurs and smears directed at BN? Is this country to be transformed only by slamming BN?
“Of course not; all that will result from these are chaos and disorder. The politics of blaming BN is actually a cheap tactic to mask their deficiencies,” he said to thunderous applause.
