Who's the likely statesman, Zaid or Azmin?

vox populi small thumbnail 'Zaid will rule like a corporate guy, while Azmin is more wily. Azmin knows how to do things, while Zaid tells you what you should do.'

Zaid, Nurul leading in PKR polls

ONG: In the unlikely but possible event that Zaid Ibrahim wins, he will be in a big dilemma. How to accept the deputy president's post when on the day before the elections, his election agents acting on his behalf had called for the halt of the party elections because of allegations of serious irregularities in the election process?

Justice seeker: My fervent hope is that Zaid wins the deputy president's post. This is simply because he is a national figure compared to Azmin Ali. He is also a man of principle, who had resigned his ministership in protest of the Internal Security Act arrest of YB Teresa Kok and a journalist.

To my knowledge he is the only minister who has done so. His national stature outshines YB Azmin. He has the charisma to succeed Anwar Ibrahim in the event he is imprisoned by the corrupted court.

I am not against Azmin. He has been the most loyal supporter of Anwar and has been long with PKR ever since its birth. He has also sacrificed tremendously in the fight for PKR. But sometimes, we have to be realistic in choosing the most appropriate person.

Pity him: Zaid will rule like a corporate guy, while Azmin is more wily. Both are quite detached but Azmin has more passion. Azmin knows how to do things, while Zaid tells you what you should do.

A power play against Azmin might see Zaid as the victor, but it will not bode well for the 13 th general elections.

Urban Malaysian: I am for Zaid, and I am hoping that Zaid will take over if Anwar is sent to jail over Sodomy II. Zaid has national stature and the non-Malays are comfortable with him.

He says what has to be said, unlike Anwar who keeps an elegant silence when controversial issues are involved. Azmin has been very loyal since the reformasi days and his labour should not go unrecognised or unrewarded.

But Azmin does not possess the characteristics to be a national leader in the multi-racial alliance of Pakatan Rakyat. A lot of Pakatan supporters, like me, dread even the thought of him being PM.

His actions so far fail to convince that he is capable of being a visionary leader for all Malaysians. However, Azmin could always be given a senior ministerial role if Pakatan takes over Putrajaya.

Teng: Guan Eng pulling wool over Penangite's eyes

Passing Cloud: How well did Gerakan do before it was completely booted out of Penang in the 2008 political tsunami?

The zero number of seats it won is testimony to its achievements. Teng Hock Nan, words are superfluous when talking about you, Koh Tsu Koon and Gerakan. It is better for Gerakan to ‘gulung tikar'. Let's not waste any more computer memory.

Malaysians Are Not Stupid: When are BN leaders going to start respecting the intelligence of the rakyat? We are smart enough to judge for ourselves. If you think you are that good, just work quietly to produce the results and we know how to reward you with our votes. In the meantime, just shut up.

Wira: If Teng Hock Nan was really sincere in helping Penang, he should follow the footsteps of Lee Kah Choon, the CEO of Penang Invest and a former Gerakan MP, who resigned from all posts (including his membership) in Gerakan because of criticisms from the party leadership when he took up the appointment to help Penang lure foreign investors, to the dismay of the Gerakan leadership.

Ben: Teng, why do you have to rant about all this rubbish when Guan Eng has refused to accept your offer of your service? If your record was as good as you have claimed, Guan Eng would have taken you on board long ago.

Nearly half of your members voted you out at your Gerakan EGM, and this had showed that your integrity is questionable.

Ade: Teng, you and Gerakan are sore losers. If you had been that fantastic, you think we would have chucked you out? If Gerakan had won a couple of seats, at least you could still open your mouth. But, no, we threw you guys out lock, stock and barrel.

All of us voted wrong? Who's pulling wool over our eyes? Stop insulting our intelligence.

Ex-S'wak strongman Salleh ready to join fray

Sarawakian: I just don't understand. These aging gladiators should just stay retired and enjoy their ill-gotten wealth. Or have they exhausted it and are coming back for second helpings?

SUPP just announced that they will retain all their incumbents in the coming state elections. All the talk about handling over to younger leaders is just rubbish. They are too greedy to let go of the goodies they have been helping themselves to.

Let's just throw them all out.

Anonymous: Sarawak is worth a lot to Putrajaya today, and this old soldier knows that.

All his rhetoric in Malaysiakini will not prevent this old opportunist from putting his sticky, grubby hands into the cookie jar, knowing what PM Najib Razak and Abdul Taib Mahmud are willing to pour into the Sarawak state election.

In politics, everything is ‘on sale'.You can be bought to join a party or bought to leave.

Wanderer: Salleh Jafaruddin, where are your principles and integrity that you are trying to project to the electorate? After 53 years of abuses by the Umno/BN administration, the people are demanding a change. Why do you need to hesitate which side you should join?
