Khir, how many teeth do you have to pull?

your say 'It will be interesting to know how much income tax he pays. Many salaried workers in the country must really learn from him.'

Khir settles 3-year arrears on mega-mansion taxes

Rick Teo: Why did the IRB (Inland Revenue Board) not carry out investigation to find out where Dr Mohd Khir Toyo got his money to build his luxurious mansion?

An ordinary taxpayer would have long ago been served notice to explain where he got his income from to afford such a luxury mansion. Can Khir explain his source of income during his tenure as the MB of Selangor?

How much did it cost him to purchase the land for his mansion? All this should be properly investigated to clarify allegations that the land was sold to him at nominal value.

Albert: As a salaried person (i.e. MP, state assemblyman, or for that matter, MB), Khir Toyo has done a Houdini by being able to afford such a princely home estimated to cost RM3.5 million or the alleged RM24 million price tag.

In normal and sane situations, only houses of this type are reserved for the very rich and successful businessmen. Are dentists classified as rich and successful businessmen? My neighbour, a dentist in busy Petaling Jaya, does not think so. At his age, he will be lucky to get a 20-year loan.

At 3.5 percent over 20 years for a loan of RM2 million, Khir will have to pay a monthly installment of around RM11,600 (including a down payment of RM1.5 million out of his declared but suspicious RM3.5 million sum which he paid for the house). Khir Toyo is really a rich man and he must be earning a very high monthly income to be able to afford the conservative RM11.600 repayment every month.

It will be interesting to know how much income tax he pays. Many salaried workers in the country must really learn from him.

Fido Dido: Did the MPSA (Shah Alam Municipal Council) follow guidelines on action to be taken for three years of non-payment of assessment. If the guidelines are there, why is no action taken?

MBSA is really setting up a precedent so other people can follow suit with three years of non-payment. This is truly 1 Malaysia governance indeed.

Multi Racial: To majority of us, it is obvious there was abuse of power or corruption, or both, by Khir Toyo when he was the Selangor MB.

If he claimed that he got the mansion cheap, then it means he abuse the MB power to get himself a cheap deal. How come until now he is still not investigated?

If he got the mansion at market price, it is obvious his MB salary cannot afford it. So this is corruption. Why is he not investigated?

Even if he got the land cheap, which is abuse of power, he still cannot afford to build a mansion of this size - not mentioning the kind of furnishing and fittings he has in the mansion.

It is obvious the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) is not impartial and the current BN federal government and parties are protecting him. Why?

Wfworker: We should not be surprised by this delayed action of paying the bills. Should BN is still in power, it will never be paid. It only reflects the kind of people leading the government under BN. I wonder what reason could be given for the delay.

Ruben: It is so sickening and disgusting for a former MB of Selangor and an elected state representative to have not paid his arrears for three years. It shows his arrogance plus blatant disregard for the laws of our country.

People like this should not be re-elected or given any official posts as a simple act like this shows that he can easily misuse his position and privileges. Also, how can one afford to build a mansion like that with his earnings as a MB?

His claim of RM3.5 million is ridiculous. Even Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that, yet what has happened to the investigation? Nothing, while Teoh Beng Hock had to die over an allegation of misusing less than RM5,000. This is not justice.

Black Mamba: The IRB, MACC should be fairly occupied with this case. Why the inaction? The aerial photo of his house plus unpaid assessment should give an indication of the house value. The assessment seems like a discounted rate at only RM11,000 - plus penalty I should assume - for three years.

It is mind boggling for an ex-top notch civil servant to own such a house even at government super-scale salary. Two and two don't add up here.

Seekk: Well, if ordinary folks have not paid their assessments for three years - what do you think would have happened? There appears two sets of law at work here ... you judge for yourselves.

ONG: The reason his house was not sealed and contents auctioned off to settle unpaid taxes could be because the MPSA are still staffed with his people.

Eric Koay: If ordinary people don't pay their taxes, the police will come in the middle of the night with handcuffs. If Khir remain MB for Selangor, I think he would never have to pay any tax, and nobody will know.

Outahere: Who is he trying to con? RM11,000 asessment for three years for a RM3.5 million house? Either the house costed him way more than RM3.5 million or he must have gotten the property/land at filthy cheap price. How was it, Khir?

Commentator: What the public do not know is how non-graduate politicians can be millionaires while educated PhD graduates still drive a Proton Saga. Are the authorities blind?

Anonymous: Khir would have to pull many teeth to pay for his mansion.
