'Will the Agong follow the rising tidal waves of the rakyat's anger and advise the federal government to stand down and hand Syabas back to the people?'
Tear gas, water cannons unleashed, 48 arrested
Rolls-Royce: PM Najib Razak talked about despicable, anti-national and evil acts today. Do we need to look further?
He also talked about manifest destiny of this nation. Well, I can only see the manifest destiny of a corrupted and crumbling regime bent on holding on to power come what may.
He talked about the promised future of this nation. Yes, we the people promise you and your apparatuses this future - all those who abused power, were corrupt and tortured others will be held accountable; they have to pay back in full, every action and every ounce of it.
Habib RAK: The FRU (Federal Reserve Unit) and police appeared to have planned a premeditated ambush on the rakyat. While Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim and his excos were allowed to pass, their followers were attacked from front, back and from the air!
The BN government will pay dearly for this wanton display of aggression and the abuse of human rights. Even children and the elderly were not spared. They were lured into an area and then attacked. How brutal.
Malayamuda: Amar Singh must remember that he would not become deputy KL police chief if not for the March 2008 people power. And the police will not be exempted from paying the 37 percent water tariff hike either. The Selangor government is doing this for the people, which include the police and their families.
FairMind: How about a demo against the increase in prices of petrol, sugar and gas?
The reason why BN fared badly in the 2008 election was due in large part to rallies and demos by Hindraf, Bersih and Protes. There were powerful images showing how high-handed the police were and it definitely stirred the feelings of the rakyat against the corruption, arrogance and injustice of the BN government.
The MSM (mainstream media) did not want publish the good things done by the opposition but instead cover up the misdeeds of the corrupt regime and praise whatever little achievements the present regime did. Peaceful rallies and demonstrations are the only way to put across the atrocities of this present regime to the common man in the street.
From now to the next election, the opposition should increase the pressure and expose the true colour of this present regime.
Ferdtan: The 'water' demonstration gives us a sense of deja vu with another general election imminent.
Let's take our hats off to the brave thousands of pro-water 'red-shirt warriors' and the leaders who dared to be at the frontline - Badrul Hisham Shaharin, Lau Weng San, Ronnie Liu, Charles Santiago, Dr Xavier Jeyakumar, Azmin Ali, Teresa Kok, Yaacob Sapari, Khalid Samad, Zuraida Kamaruddin, Dr Nasir Hashim, and especially to the gallant Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, Tian Chua and S Arutchelvan.
Other included Tricia Yeoh, Gobind Singh Deo, William Leong, Loh Gwo Burne, Elizabeth Wong, Gan Pei Nei, Mohamad Sabu, Chang Lih Kang and the common rakyat. Any more to add to the list?
I'm curious as to what happened to Haris Ibrahim (the Third Force) and his many blogger friends, who in the past were almost invariably at the forefront of such 'fight for the rakyat' demonstrations. It's strange that most didn't even blog about the event (the water demonstration) as if it was not important. I guess they must be busy trying to allocate seats for themselves and their friends to contest in the 13th GE.
Coming up next - the ‘BN Naik Harga' march to protest the recent increase in prices for fuel, diesel, gas and sugar.
NKTG: The Malaysian police force is equivalent to their Zimbabwean counterparts - unprofessional, rude and sometimes downright stupid. They simply follow instructions without really understanding the word ‘compassion'.
Anonymous: The clear contrast in the crowd size of 7,000 against 300 at the two demonstrations. Further, look at the mix of the 7,000 versus 300 - the 300 at the GAPS demo were all Malays but not the 7,000, a healthy mix comprising Malay, Indian and Chinese. This is enough for us to arrive at a conclusion that Pakatan becoming the next federal government is very bright indeed. With this takeover, many privatisation ills can be cured.
EquaLizer: Wear black in Perak, get arrested. Wear red in Selangor, get arrested. Very soon we will all have to walk around naked. This is Najib's 1Malaysia.
PM: After more than 50 years of ruling the country, they have not changed a bit and it will never change, because they are always right. The big transformation programme that the PM has initiated will not work because the ruling regime must transform itself first.
PS: Starting today, the rakyat of Selangor should stop paying the water bills. The FRU and the police were being rowdy. The people agreed to disperse but they were chased until inside the ‘masjid'. ‘Syabas' to the students who joined us.
Come the next general election, we must show them our power.
Keturunan Malaysia: "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." - Confucius.
Rise Malaysians, rise and be counted when the time comes. Evil must be stamped out. The good must prevail. For all of you great men, women and children out there - you are not, and never, alone. We salute you. You are one bunch of good and great Malaysian freedom fighters!
Yobama: It is a futile exercise - this handing over of the memo to the king. His Majesty is not known to side any political party, much less Pakatan Rakyat. He is apolitical, period.
But of course, the demo should be allowed in a free and democratic country. When pro-BN people want to demonstrate, like the GAPS people, no police permit was required; but if they applied for it, it will be given promptly, no questions asked, because it is for the cause of 'ketuanan Melayu'. So you see, the lopsidedness of the BN (‘Bankrap Negara') law.
Kazakh: Will the Agong follow the rising tidal waves of the rakyat's anger and advise the federal government to stand down and hand Syabas back to the people?
If indeed Tuanku were to do so, it would be a start to a reversal of all the past privatisation that Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his gang had wrongfully committed. If the Agong does that, I will sacrifice one month of my salary as a happy donation to any institution the Tuanku so wishes.
Catsanddogs: This is another symptom of the BN disease - chronic use of chemical substances to induce sensations of pleasure and happiness.
