'So Ibrahim Ali is saying that Singapore is telling the truth about Anwar but lying about Najib? He knows exactly when the Singaporeans tell the truth and when they're lying?'
'WikiLeaks 'expose' on Anwar an open secret'
Sentinel: Ibrahim Ali is one person who has no fear of God nor does he believe in repentance. It looks like he doesn't believe his recovery from his heart operation is a message to repent, rather he thinks God is giving him a longer life to destroy the harmonious relationship of multiracial Malaysia.
Changeagent: His first day back in Parliament, and already a punch thrown below the belt. Well, don't say God didn't give him another chance. Anyway, I got to admit though that he is good for entertainment value. We always laugh at his expense, not with him.
Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan did not wash or defecate for two days after the alleged consensual act. He met up with Najib Abdul Razak to seek 'advice'. When he decided to go for a medical check-up, three doctors concluded that there were no signs of any sexual penetration.
The doctors changed their stand by claiming that they found semen even though that contradicted their earlier findings. One of them refused to look at the pro-forma notes while on the witness stand but did so during recess. Judge Mohd Zabidin Mohd Diah threatened defence lawyer Karpal Singh with contempt when the latter asked for access to medical notes.
Isn't there something fishy happening here?
Ghkok: Well, based on the history of the last 12 years, people know that Anwar was, and is, persecuted. Simple as that.
Amnesty International considered him a prisoner of conscience before his release in 2004. They continue to urge the Malaysian authorities to drop the current politically-motivated criminal charges of sodomy against him.
Politicians in UK, US, Australia and other countries have spoken up against his persecution. Anwar sustained the attack, but more importantly, any potentially-damaging charge could have been aimed at any other politician who pose a significant political threat to the entrenched powers.
The important finding is that it is politically motivated. That means that various instruments of power have been used to undermine the victim - including misinformation. What is the value of the "leak" then? Ibrahim Ali shouldn't get too excited.
Lim Chong Leong: If what the great Harry Lee Kuan Yew said was true, then Anwar is guilty of having a different sexual preference which is outlawed due to our archaic values. What is more serious is that PM Najib is guilty of the highest level of criminal conspiracy with the complainant, the attorney-general and the judge to persecute Anwar by abusing the government machinery.
Harrisman: Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali really has no principles. Some of the things that Singapore said in the Wikileaks, he challenged them - like those comparing the two countries and their leaders. But when it comes to the information about the opposition, he says it is true.
Phra Ong Chao: So Ibrahim Ali is saying that Singapore is telling the truth about Anwar but lying about Najib and the government? He knows exactly when Singapore leaders are telling the truth and when they are lying.
Anonymous: They say the report on Anwar is "hearsay". But when it comes to Najib Razak, it's not hearsay as he is guilty. Why the double standards?
The report is a confidential report not intended for the public. This would not have been known, if not for the leak.
Singapore had nothing to benefit, but their reputation demands that they do not lie to their allies. If not, who will trust them? It's sad that PKR knows the truth and the weight the report carries, but they are in a state of denial.
Mat Bond: If everyone chose to believe what Ibrahim says as well as what Wikileaks says, then why the hell it is so difficult for the judge to give Anwar some of the evidence that he has been asking for?
Since Anwar is so guilty, let him have all the evidence, unless there is something fishy going on.
1Agree: When it comes to anything that paints a questionable picture of the opposition personalities, all of a sudden, there are articles or individuals accusing them of having a hidden agenda, or are 'liars', 'fabricators', even if they were once favoured.
Both sides of the divide have unacceptable issues. As this is the case, don't simply accept one side and turn a blind eye to the other side which you support. By doing so, it means you condone and live the exact way in which you vehemently despise.
Faz: Wikileaks are not the absolute truth. Comments from diplomats are basically their views after filtering the least likely scenarios. Sources may come from all kind of background and sometimes these characters are shady at best.
Since they are supposed to be confidential, then the contents are likely to be the best beliefs at that time and being told in more direct language than the usual norms of diplomatic communications. These messages only reinforce the focus of the Americans and their allies and their perceptions of the current situation so as to formulate their responses in the future.
The diplomatic cables were not telling the facts or the truth of the matter, just their opinion of it.
