In an unusual move in the campaign for the Tenang by-election, BN candidate Mohd Azahar Ibrahim held two interview sessions yesterday, exclusively for selected Chinese press.
The earlier interview was at 9am at his house, where it is understood that he spent only seven minutes fielding reporters' questions about the local land issues, his political aspirations as well as rumours about the existence of a second wife.
Organised by MCA, the journalists were restricted to "selected Chinese press".
Malaysiakini
’s Chinese section was not on the list of invitees.
However, due to reasons which were not entirely clear, it was made known in the evening that Mohd Azahar was to have another joint interview, this time at 10.30pm with the same media organisations.
It was believed that the issues raised by reporters were more casual in nature, with Mohd Azahar even breaking out in song ('Gong Xi Gong Xi') during the interview session.
It is also understood that the second session lasted half an hour, also at his residence on Jalan Tenang.
While Malaysiakini 's attempts in getting an interview with Mohd Azahar have been unsuccessful so far, journalists from the said portal were politely asked to leave each time they showed up for both sessions.
