Teoh RCI begins probe on Valentine's Day
The Royal Commission of Inquiry on Teoh Beng Hock's death will hold its first meeting tomorrow at the Kuala Lumpur court complex.
The Royal Commission of Inquiry on Teoh Beng Hock's death will hold its first meeting tomorrow at the Kuala Lumpur court complex.
A second meeting will be held on Feb 9 before the commission begins its investigations on Feb 14.
In a statement today, the commission's secretary also states that Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin had the consented the commission's formation on Jan 26.
The commission has been given two terms of reference:
1. To establish whether there was any "impropriety" during the course of the interrogation of Teoh during Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigations.
2. To enquire into Teoh's death and circumstances surrounding and contributing to his death.
The commission has three months from Jan 26 to complete their investigations.
Led by former Federal Court judge James Foong, the commission includes another former Federal Court judge Abdul Kadir Sulaiman, former Court of Appeal judge T Selventhiranathan, Penang Hospital’s senior consultant forensic pathologist Dr Bhupinder Singh and Cyberjaya University College of Medical Science’s dean of medical faculty Dr Mohamed Hatta Shaharom.
