COMMENT In 1999, The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) published a monograph on ‘Health For All’, a document which was intended to promote and urge for a more systematic approach to our healthcare.

The MMA leadership then and even now, felt that Malaysia could do better by enhancing our healthcare system so that health equity can be assured for everyone residing in Malaysia - a single payer model was proposed as a possible approach towards ensuring this objective.
