Hindraf appeals for funds... from non-Indians?

vox populi small thumbnail 'As a non-Indian, why should I contribute as Hindraf does not speak for me or even acknowledge me as an equal human being in their racist eyes?'

Mass HRP arrests: Appeal for donations for legal fees

Kgen: Why need such a big amount or is it also to pay the "brave" self-styled chairman P Waythamoorthy's expenses in London? As a non-Indian, why should I contribute as Hindraf does not speak for me or even acknowledge me as an equal human being in their racist eyes?

You ask for help from all Malaysians but you still demand the right to propagate your racial agenda. Let's see how your appeal turns out. What Hindraf needs is a knock on the head that it cuts both ways.

Anonymous_3e2c: They claimed they have so many affluent people supporting them, including lawyers, and now they are asking for lawyers fees when their own members can't even defend them?

They say it's for bail, but did you know that bail money is held on trust and will be returned by the court? What happens after the money is returned?

Sabawak: If you want contributions, drop your racial stance and come out as multi-racial party, promise us you'll stop asking for seats for your HRP (Human Rights Party) and that you will not play spoiler to the opposition. If we have your word for that, you'll get money.

Michael Angelo: If you don't even have money to put up bail, how can you finance the seats that you are demanding to fight in the 13 th general elections? Are you sure you want that many seats? Get real.

Old is Gold: As I said before, instead of wasting your time on street demonstrations, channel your energies on educating the people about democracy and how they should choose their representatives.

If you are unhappy with the ruling party, show it via the ballot boxes. That is why elections are for in a democratic country.

Hazley: Come on, Malaysians. Just visit Hindraf website or the HRP website and you will know that those leaders campaigned for the benefit of 12 million non-Malays who have been suffering for the past 54 years.

They were lodging a mass police report against Umno, which is greatly embarrassing to the ruling party. Why keep complaining that they are not supporting Pakatan?

Mimi Suraya: Many of my friends speak negatively about Hindraf and HRP. Many are angry that they are not supporting Pakatan. Many are angry when Hindraf turned against DAP on the Kampung Buah Pala issue when they took on Lim Guan Eng directly and blamed him as being a thief for robbing the poor. Many are angry when Hindraf took Pakatan Kedah government to task for demolishing their 1903 graveyard in Ladang Pekaka.

But this was a history erased, which is also the common agenda of Umno. Many are angry that Khalid appoints a mandore as a exco and uses the mandore to issue statements to address the Indians problems. This is also a trait of Umno.

So the bottomline is, Hindraf is totally disappointed with Pakatan over its extension of Umno agenda. The general election (GE) is nearing. It's time to bury old hatchet. It's time to talk and re-plan and rethink. Pakatan needs to do a lot of rethinking as in the current situation, there is no way BN can be toppled.

Anonymous: Hindraf demonstrated for the benefit of 12 million non-Malays. This country does not belong to Malays alone. We have to change the mindset often planted by Umno and its extreme sister NGOs - Perkasa and Pekida - that this is Tanah Melayu and we are pendatang .

How long must this prevail. Our brothers in Hindraf are in trouble - we must lend them a hand.

Tiagu: I think every Malaysian, especially Indians, should help Hindraf/HRP to overcome this situation. Hindraf/HRP is fighting for a better Malaysia. Only Hindraf/HRP can gather Indians to fight against Umno. No one else has that power.

That's why Umno wanted to kill off Hindraf/HRP. Don't let Umno kill Hindraf/HRP. Let's together save Hindraf/HRP.

Rajini Swami: I think it is wrong to say that Hindraf champions only the non-Malays. The way I read them, I think they champion the downtrodden of all races. They start using Indians as their focus because being Indians they have familiarity with Indian problems and many Indians approach them for help out of a feeling of kinship.

Besides, they now have no capacity to shoulder all the national woes. They are asking that all poor be given support. Frankly, I believe if the New Economic Policy were not abused and looted by the well-connected, we would not have hardcore poverty among the Malays. Helping the poor of all races would mean poor Malays stand to benefit as there are more poor Malays than others.

If as a result of Hindraf's struggle against unjustified lock-up deaths, new better lock-up standard operating procedures (SOP) is put in place, then all - Malays, Chinese and Indians - will benefit. The poor Malays is as much marginalised as others and Hindraf's fight to end marginalisation would benefit all.

Fairness For All: I am an Indian but I do not support Hindraf as they have become just another political party. They are not bothered about Indians or anyone, but only interested in getting seats.

The fact that they threatened Pakatan Rakyat that they would be a spoiler in the 13 th general elections if they are not given seats, is proof itself that the leaders are only out to gain something for themselves.

If Hindraf is really interested in helping all less fortunate people and those discriminated against by the present government, stop all the nonsense of demanding seats and do not become a political party. Give your support to Pakatan to win the GE13 and then at least you can negotiate a better deal for the Indians.

By trying to bully Pakatan, you will get nowhere. Look at the last demonstration where only a few hundred people turned up. That itself speaks volumes on the so-called support that Hindraf has. I think most Indians realise that Hindraf is just taking them for another ride.
