Still want to build nuke plants in Malaysia?

vox populi small thumbnail 'If the Japanese cannot contain this disaster, just imagine if this were to happen to Malaysian nuclear plant.'

Explosion at Japan nuke plant, meltdown feared

Anonymous_40a7: So is our government still keen on building nuclear power plants after this disaster? We might not have earthquakes, but with our shoddy construction experiences (stadium collapses in Terengganu, for example), we better not take any chances.

Anonymous222: PM Najib Razak, are you reading the news? If the Japanese cannot contain this disaster, just imagine if this were to happen to a Malaysian nuclear plant. With our tidak-apa workers, Malaysia would cease to exist.

Habib RAK: On Monday, all our MPs should pass two very important and urgent resolution. First, a resolution to convey a support message to Japan on behalf of all Malaysians. Second, an important and urgent resolution to stop and freeze any further considerations for nuclear energy plants in Malaysia.

Dood: Might I propose all members of Umno/BN and its subservient component parties take a study trip to this reactor in Japan to learn more about nuclear technology since Umno/BN is so adamant about building one in Malaysia.

I think the public would be more than happy to pay for their trip, provided they take a really good and close (emphasis on ‘close') look at the reactor.

Anonymous_1a1d: Building a nuclear plant in Malaysia is just like bringing a dormant volcano to your own home. Even though it isn't currently active, but it's still capable of erupting and create hazards to the lives of the people.

We may have the best design, the best construction and the best safety management system in the world to ensure that our nuke plant is safe but why must we introduce an inherently hazardous power generating system to our house unless we have no other source of energy.

Malaysiawatch4.blogspot: Maybe we should ask the EPU (Economic Planning Unit) how many millions of ringgit have changed hands to get the nuclear plant approval? For me, the only guaranteed to ensure the nuclear plant is never built is to vote out the irresponsible BN government.

Jefferson76: I can't help wondering why anyone thought it was a good idea to build several nuclear reactors in a place that gets 20 percent of the world's earthquakes above 6.0 on the Richter scale.

Abang Adek: I am quite happy to see Malaysia build a nuclear power plant as long as it's built right next to the PM house and office in Putrajaya. By locating our nuclear power plant in Putrajaya, it will be a very unique global tourist attraction.

After all, how many countries can claim to have their PM living and working next to a nuclear power plant? Take that Obama! Malaysia Boleh!

To kill a kitten

Jazz Singer: The police, the vet services and ‘ploticians' (sic) don't seem to give a damn. Obviously these mutts don't watch ‘Animal Planet' and see how Westerners care for animals and how they go punishing animal abusers.

The vet services should have a pet lover as its chief and not just any civil servant who is just going about the motions of a bureaucrat. There cannot be much awareness for animal welfare in this country, when there is not much welfare for some humans in this country.

Ashoka: Who was the person filming it? Why was he busy filming instead of stopping the perpetrator from carrying out this devilish act? These youth might next move on to human victims, and then what?

Solaris: Did it ever occur why some of us cannot be bothered with animals suffering? Because the government is not. And why not? Animals don't vote, so said Paul Harvey, commentator and a great supporter of animal rights.

Hindraf, not Pakatan is the real threat to Umno

JB Guy: Hindraf needs to work on making its struggles more broad-based by fighting for all the down-trodden, irrespective of race, colour or religion. What they are doing is admirable and their courage is astounding despite the BN doing its level best to oppress them.

I believe that they should not write off PKR as an ally in their struggles as it is not fair to judge PKR's contributions in such a short time. The first thing that Hindraf should work towards is ousting this corrupted and racist BN government, then look to see if PKR can perform better. P Uthayakumar and friends, the ball is in your court.

Meranti Kepong: Indeed, the Indians of Malaysia are poor and down-trodden and they are abandoned by politicians who should have given them a helping hand, especially Pakatan. Thus these poor and deprived Indians are compelled to have their complaints heard via Hindraf, a lonely voice crying in the wilderness of Malaysia's acute racial and religious discrimination.

As a non-Indian, I wish to associate with the poor Indians of this land and support them unreservedly and I also admire their gutsiness in protesting against social injustice caused by no less than BN-Umno.

P Dev Anand Pillai: The sad part is that most Indian youth above 21 are not registered voters unlike the Chinese youth. So wake up, Indian youth, if you don't like discrimination, get registered as a voter immediately.

Study on nuke power in M'sia to proceed
