Apologies made, but Interlok unresolved

vox populi small thumbnail 'As usual, whenever non-Malays are insulted and bullied, it is a ‘misunderstanding'. Had it been the other way around, all hell would have had to be paid.'

Book closed on KKB school Interlok issue

Keturunan Malaysia: What nonsense is this? Why should the Indian boys and their parents apologise? To save the ‘masters' faces'? Never mind if the latter are the ones who screwed up the issue first? That's the trouble with us, we are quick to settle for crumbs.

Anonymous_3f74: One cannot fault the students and parents as they did the right thing; all Indian students should rightly return the book or just dump it. The headmaster, discipline teacher, PTA (Parent and Teacher Association) head and police are clearly in the wrong as all of them have exceeded their line of authority and should be dealt with accordingly.

Of course, that will never happen. So to now claim that "they have apologised to one another" is absurd and it is obvious that the students and parents were intimidated and forced to withdraw their reports and offer apologies.

This is a good lesson to those Indians who voted for MIC representative P Kamalanathan. When this hand-kissing stooge won the Hulu Selangor seat, the Indians who voted for him sold their soul to the devil. The irony is that few expected it to boomerang this fast.

JBGuy: The discipline teacher should be charged with sedition and her lies pertaining to the student's brother bringing 100 gangsters is a reflection of her dishonesty. Clearly, she has no moral values. She is a disgrace to Malays and Muslims in Malaysia.

Vijay47: Yes, as usual, whenever non-Malays are insulted and bullied, it is a ‘misunderstanding'. Had it been the other way around, all hell would have had to be paid.

Even here, the victims were taken to the police station by one who was clearly abusing his position. Most probably he would be given a promotion for the heroic way he defended his race and religion.

Gerard Samuel Vijayan: Come GE13 if the Indians in Hulu Selangor have any self-respect left they should kick out Kamalanathan out for good. The man is nothing but an apologist for Umno and his servile attitude towards the Malays means that he has no pride in his own race, religion and culture.

If the students don't want to read ‘Interlok', that is their right. Of course, that will cause them problems when it comes to their Malay literature exam paper but that is something for the students to reconcile with.

But that does not give the racist discipline teacher and her bigoted PTA chairman who misused his police powers to abuse, denigrate and detain these students using derogatory words like "pariah" and "keling". The parents should sue the police for false imprisonment/unlawful detention and the teacher for slander.

Artchan: Reports withdrawn and everybody is happy. Meanwhile, the book ‘Interlok' is still in use and the Indians are still called ‘pariah', and this is considered solved? Kamalanathan has sold out the Indians again.

Zaid: Why let opposition capitalise on Bible issue?

Ghkok: Interesting comments from Zaid. It would be interesting to know whether he considers himself and his party as part of the ‘opposition'. But the main issue here is about religious freedom and the merger agreement that guarantees that Sabah and Sarawak are entitled to full religious freedom.

By restricting the entry of the bibles, it is tantamount to restricting the practise of Christianity in Sarawak. The Home Ministry have no right to restrict the entry of the bibles. That's the crux of the matter.

Ksn: Umno is confused between religion and language. The lack of confidence on the part of Umno in not allowing the Bible to be circulated in Bahasa Malaysia does not speak well about Malay Muslims and Islam.

The circulation of the Bahasa Malaysia Bible should be extended to Malaysia as well, not just Sabah and Sarawak. Give the Malays some credit.

Kopi O: Zaid, are you the opposition or the government? Or a fence-sitter?

Abim: PM must state stand on BM Bible

Proarte: The Quran affirms the Torah and Bible and indeed accepts that they are part of Allah's revelation to the world. The Quran is a continuum of divine revelation. The question is why Umno and Abim are so opposed to God's revelation? If Prophet Muhammad did not prevent Muslims from reading the Torah and Bible, why are the Malays so afraid to read these scriptures?

If they can be confused reading the Bible then equally, they could be confused reading the Quran. Surely by expanding knowledge will one be able to make a more informed opinion on matters of faith.

Ruben: What is all the fuss about Christians praying in our national language for which we need the Al-Kitab in Malay? Is this not 1Malaysia? Why is there so much fear among some people? On the one hand, we are told to use and promote Bahasa Malaysia, but when we use it in our religion it is a ‘no no'. Such hypocrisy. By right PM Najib Razak should be proud on this.

Simon Lee 3ed5: Abim is not the government. It preaches intolerance that undermines and threatens religious harmony and denies the rights of other bumiputeras. Abim has no right to dictate terms on other bumiputeras' legitimate and universal rights to practise their religion as they deemed fit.

All bumiputeras have the same right and no one has the right to insult, deprive and unilaterally revoke the rights of another bumiputera or rakyat regardless of how high and mighty they think they are.

WeCANLive: Abim is confused as to the position of Islam in the country. Muslims with pure heart and mind know that the Bible, or Al Kitab, is the holy book for Christians.

A believer must have faith and is spiritual about their faith and their commitment. Those who stray are no longer believers and only followers, and this is the path for these individuals to apostate in the end. So Abim, trust your Muslim brothers to have a little faith.
