The BN is using the sex video tape allegedly featuring PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim as a bait to buy over opposition MPs, PKR leaders said, pointing to former Malacca chief minister Rahim Thamby Chik as one of the messengers in the deal.

"Clearly, this is their plan to show the video to PKR MPs to create doubts and offer to buy them," party secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution told a press conference today.

PKR Sungai Petani parliamentarian Johari Abdul said one such attempt was made on him.

Johari said he was shown the video on Monday and that he was offered to be taken to meet with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Rahim, who was present together with businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, made the offer, he claimed.

NONE "He told me that he could arrange a meeting with the PM for me, and that they would 'take care' of me, of my finances and my security," Johari ( right ) told the press conference at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya.

He said he suspected the BN wanted him to jump ship for monetary considerations and they tried to shake his faith in Anwar by showing him the sex video purportedly depicting Anwar having sex with an unidentified woman.

‘More Pakatan MPs to see video’

Johari also said Rahim then asked him to bring more Pakatan MPs to see the video.

Their motive, he suspected, was to 'turn' more MPs against Anwar and PKR.

azlan "They showed the video and also promised carrots," chimed in Saifuddin.

The Sungai Petani MP said he then contacted his uncle to arrange for five more PKR parliamentarians to see the video yesterday, as Rahim wanted, after the private screening for him on Monday.

At a press conference with Pakatan MPs later, Johari identified the five as Teluk Kemang MP Kamarul Baharin Abbas, Rashid Din (Merbok), Azan Ismail (Indera Mahkota), Amran Abd Ghani (Tanah Merah) and Abdullah Sani (Kuala Langat).

However, he said, despite waiting for two hours from 3.30-5.30pm at the Flamingo Hotel in Ampang, where he had watched the video, they did not see hide nor hair of Shazryl Eskay or Rahim.
