'If the RCI can ask Teoh's family to be interviewed by doctors, then Hishamuddin and the other three officers must be put to the lie-detector test.'
Lawyer raises two possible MACC interrogation skills
Quigonbond: If I were the RCI, by now I would doubt the suicide theory is going anywhere.
I would do the following to determine the hypothesis of homicide: call former MACC witnesses to tell of the interrogation techniques ever employed by MACC; put the MACC officers through the lie detector, look upstream - how did the allegation of corruption regarding the Selangor assemblyperson surface and made the allegation?
Bearing in mind that MACC has so eloquently said on previous occasions that they act on complaints, it follows that there must be a complainant. Then examine the motive of the complainant. Put the person through the lie-detector test to determine whether the complaint was genuine or political sabotage.
Seriously, the RCI has been going on for more than month. I see lights flashing, the barrier down, bells ringing, but I don't see any train coming through. The last we need is an RCI that can't render any verdict except ‘MACC should improve on its procedures'.
Good Men: Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy director Hishamuddin Hashim said, "Normally the director and the deputy director do not get involved in the interrogation of witness."
Why on earth is a witness being interrogated? For a witness, you just ask questions, but interrogate? Has he been accused? Isn't this bullying?
Justice4A11: Hishamuddin, you testified that you have never seen TBH (Teoh Beng Hock) in the office, never even participated in the interrogation, and that you were sleeping in your office.
However, your staff testified that this was one of the biggest cases they had ever handled. I just don't see how you did not even come face to face with TBH if this was one of your biggest cases.
Cala: Hishamuddin is having an uphill task in fighting to dissociate himself from the sudden death of Teoh Beng Hock, considering the following ‘facts':
i) Look at his attitude towards the case and towards lawyers representing the Bar Council
ii) He is the de facto head of Selangor MACC in interrogating TBH
iii) His past conduct and the conduct of his men (for example, Mohd Ashraf Mohd Yunus watched porn during office hours, and Ashraf's known violent treatment of suspects)
iv) He dodged giving his DNA in the aftermath of TBH incident
v) His being recalled back to Putrajaya after the incident
vi) The emergency leave he took after the incident
In short, despite his assertion that he is a caring man ever concerned about the welfare of any witness/suspect, his uncooperative demeanour during the RCI (Royal Commission of Inquiry) points to the opposite.
Indeed, Hisham is a big suspect in his own right, and should be considered of having played a role in causing the death of TBH.
Bluemountains: I have a very strong feeling justice James Foong and his team will be able to zoom in on the alleged murderer pretty soon if the DNA samples from all MACC officers are taken all over again under the strict supervision of the commission to see if any will match the DNA found on TBH's belt.
Anak Desa: Order a lie detector test and let us see what comes out. If the RCI can ask Teoh's family to be interviewed by doctors to determine the state of his mind, then in the same way, Hishamuddin and the other three officers must be put to the lie-detector test.
Pornthip: 'Teoh Beng Hock strangled before fall'
Satu Malaysian: What I don't understand is if TBH's interrogation was completed by 12.30am, why was Teoh allowed to loiter in the MACC premises till the next morning? Isn't there a SOP (standard operation procedure) as to the release of a witness after questioning? Aren't there security precautions applicable to the MACC office?
It looks like TBH was free to roam around the office. He was seen moving around in the bathroom, pantry and other places on the 14th floor where he allegedly jumped out the window. And why was his personal items such as his handphone and backpack (where a letter allegedly written by him was found) still in the possession of the investigating officer?
So far the testimonies seem to be coached and evasive. The chief claimed to have slept through the night and the interrogators were busy watching pornography.
Pemerhati: The easiest and most reliable way of ascertaining the truth about the unfair interrogation techniques used by the MACC officers, such as strangulation of the neck as suggested by Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand, is for the commission to call up the people who had complained about the way they were interrogated.
It is surprising that this has not been done. It would be impossible to get the truth from the MACC officers as they are unlikely to say anything that would put them in bad light. There is a strong suspicion and forensic evidence that Teoh's death was caused by MACC's barbaric interrogation techniques.
If the commission wastes its time on irrelevant matters and does not pursue this possibility vigorously, it would strengthen and confirm the suspicion that the commission is just a wayang kulit show and has been set up by PM Najib Razak just to assuage public anger and fool the public into thinking that the BN government is serious about unearthing the truth.
Freemsia: It really saddens me - for allegedly misappropriating RM2,400, TBH had to be interrogated to the extent he ended up dying a cruel death, while Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud is still running around free.
Singa Pura Pura: I was going to suggest that Teoh had strangled himself with his bare hands, perhaps out of sheer desperation.
