Police advised the people today to vote early in the Sarawak election on Saturday because of the sunny morning forecasted.

Sarawak deputy police commissioner Law Hong Soon said the Meteorological Department had forecasted fine weather in the morning and rain in the evening until early May.

He said police kept in touch with the department when planning for orderly polling.

"On April 16, according to the department, the weather will be fine in the morning throughout Sarawak, but there may be thunderstorms and rain in one or two areas," he told reporters at the state police headquarters here.

Law said that police were prepared for any flooding.

He also said that 4,159 of the 6,591 police postal voters had cast their ballot as of 5pm yesterday. The rest are expected to do so today.

"We try to gather as many of our postal voters as possible. We try to achieve 100 per cent participation if that's possible," Law said.
