Former Malacca Chief Minister Rahim Thamby Chik said he has succeeded in “exposing the evil” behind opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim in the Carcosa sex video caper.
Former Malacca chief minister Rahim Thamby Chik said he has succeeded in “exposing the evil” behind opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim in the Carcosa sex video caper.
“Today in court we have seen the truth exposed,” said Rahim (

“We will no longer accept any denials from any parties”
“We are now convinced Anwar was involved in the act depicted in the video and has committed sins,” said the former CM at a press conference after the Datuk T hearing today.
At the proceedings that saw the Datuk T trio admitting their charges and being fined up to RM3,000, Rahim’s lawyer told the court they had employed a US team of “experts” to perform facial recognition analysis comparing the video to a known photo of Anwar.
Rahim’s lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah told reporters the results showed a “99.99 percent” match, but did not show the report to substantiate his claim.
However, it should be noted that the identity of the man in the sex video was not decided in court today, and the question of Anwar’s resemblance to the man in the video was only mentioned in the prosecution's presentation of the facts of the case.
Protecting the public interest
Rahim said his willingness to expose the case stemmed from his desire to "defend the interest and the safety of the nation."
"We sacrifice ourselves - the three of us - to ensure that we reach this goal, so that the people would consider and decide (for themselves)...Especially when (they) are facing the 13th general elections.
"Leaders who are morally corrupt will be exposed to (more) corruption. That is why we think that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who has been doing this hypocrisy, is not eligible to lead," he said to cheers from his supporters.
Rahim's two partners in crime - Shazryl Eskay Abdullah and Shuib Lazim - were jointly charged with possession and distribution of pornography material under Section 292(a) of the Penal Code, while Rahim was charged with abetment under Section 109.
