The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission's special investigating team and the executive transformation committee today met and gave themselves separate time frames to look at different areas of the Teoh Beng Hock royal commission of inquiry report.

A statement issued by the MACC today stated the special team chaired by deputy chief commissioner (management and professionalism) Zakaria Jaafar has been given three terms of reference.

  • To scrutinise the RCI report for allegations of wrongdoing and violation of procedures in interrogating Teoh.

  • To scrutinise the facts relating to the three MACC officers in the report, and prepare a disciplinary report. This is to see if there is violation of rules and procedure. Its finding would be forwarded to the disciplinary committee.

  • To prepare and present the report to the MACC's complaints committee by Aug 24.
    • The other members in the panel are Abdul Wahab Abd Aziz, Ruslan Mohd Yusof, Rosli Husain, Mohd Hasnol Abdul Wahab and Mohamad Izam Abd Nasir.

    All of them are officers in the professionalism and excellence committee of MACC.

    Meanwhile, the executive transformation committee chaired by chief commissioner Abu Kasim Mohamed today, has been given six months to find ways to improve the quality, administration, and supervision of MACC's investigations.

    They have been directed to improve its operational quality structure. Seven of the nine committee members attended today's meeting.

    They are Rashpal Singh (board member of Graft prevention), Mohd Nor Abdullah (complaints committee chairperson), Azman Ujang (consultation and craft prevention panel), former Federal Court judge Abdul Kadir Sulaiman who also sits on the RCI commission, Sutinah Sutan (deputy chief commissioner management and professionalism of MACC), D Ravindran (Pemandu representative), as well as Zakaria.

    It can also appoint specialists locally and abroad to discuss and help in improving the body.

    The committee will have its meeting once in every fortnight.
