Yew betrays Chan's trust with police report

your say 'Chan's tweet is really her private thoughts that she shared with people whom she trusted and Yew betrayed her trust with the police report.'

Police seize blogger's iMac and modem

Anonymous: Blogger Lillian Chan did not call for a revolt. She did not tell the Malays to stock up on food. She did not call for a coup d'etat against the government.

Chan did not ask anyone to drag a pig carcass through a Muslim neighborhood. Where is the sedition, Tony Yew?

Yew of Blog House, who was unable to respond maturely to Chan's question, "Where [is the political context]?", instead takes the cowardly approach of snitching to the crows while justifying it by hiding behind the cloth.

Chan did not turn a political statement into a religious one; it was Yew who turned a religious statement into a political one. How Yew can simply associate "march" and "Bersih" with any certainty shows his lack of intellectual capacity.

Must every march be about Bersih, Yew? How can you make logic jumps like these without first thinking?

You may think you're a good Christian, Yew; so did the guys who ran the Inquisition. Ditto for the Salem Witch Trials. Ditto for Tony Yew.

DannyLoHH: Today is another sad day for freedom of expression. Tony Yew's act is despicable. We all know that we choose whom to follow in a Twitter account. If Chan had made her account private, that means she has to give approval for anyone to be in her followers list.

There is inherent trust in such a gesture, for she protected her tweets with such a privacy setting. That means, her tweet is really her private thoughts that she shared with people whom she trusted and Yew betrayed her trust with the police report.

The act is despicable because aside from curtailing Chan's freedom of expression and freedom of speech in relaying her thoughts to her fellow trusted friends, he has also infringed on her privacy with the filing of the police report.

Given that he is the secretary of Blog House, his act is hypocritical too, as he is enjoying the freedom of expression via blogging, but deem it fit to curtail Chan's freedom.

Fair_Election: Ibrahim Ali has said things far worse than what Lillian expressed. Ibrahim has gone on stage threatening the Chinese and warning them not to come out, suggesting they should store food or else they would encounter another May 13 bloodshed.

So what Ibrahim says isn't inciting hatred? Isn't that the same as driving fear into the people?

People with a little brain can rationalise what is and what isn't good for them. They do not do what Ibrahim and company do. It is now clearly proven that if you support Umno, you are untouchable.

Henry Hock: Tony Yew, your petty police report had made an unknown Chan Lilian famous and a hero. It also made you the evil villain overnight, which many people equate to DAP defector Hee Yit Foong.

Many will now praise Chan. As for Yew, you will face curses on a daily basis from people of all walks of life. You will be the topic of conversation (whether in office or coffeeshop) as the modern-day Judas. To save your reputation, I advise you to retract your police report.

Ferdtan: There is no more hope in changing the image of the police: they are still recalcitrant in the manner which they carried out their work. They seem to act on flimsy matters against any opposition supporters, while not doing the same against BN supporters for their infractions.

We are still waiting for the outcome of the police investigation against the alleged plot by the Christian pastors, together with DAP, to establish Malaysia as a Christian state and have a Christian prime minister.

This was reported by Utusan Malaysia . Until now, almost three months had passed, there is no news from the police. Before one issue of Christian bogeyman is solved, another emerges.

When will it ends? GE 13 is the answer.

AnonymousA: Sometimes I do wonder, which is more important - big fat account or soul/reputation/credibility/dignity? When a person deliberately commit injustices against another human being, I wonder if he or she can take the scorns and curses from the masses?

Ipoh2: Participating in the Bersih 2.0 rally, even though the government has deemed it to be illegal, is not a seditious act. As such, Chan shouldn't and can't be charge under this section.

The police is on a political witch-hunt, especially since she is part of Penang CM Lim Guan Eng's staff.

It is incredibly stupid for the police to carry off the computer, especially the modem. Can any incriminating evidence related to the tweet be found when it is done online and nothing is saved on the computer? This shows that many police officers are really behind times and ignorant in the computer age.

Kakarook: Chan, get your lawyer to sue Yew till his pants drop. Let him have sleepless nights. You were not one of the Bersih organisers, and you were just expressing your thoughts like any fellow Malaysian.

Disbeliever: There's nothing wrong in expressing your thoughts. But here we see how the police have been overzealous in performing their duty.

If anyone should be investigated, it should be none other than that Perkasa chief who spews nothing but seditious and racial statements all in the name of protecting Malay rights.

We know that rights of certain citizens are enshrined in the constitution and we have never questioned nor will question that. I consider this recent action of the police as harassment of its loyal citizens.

Please don't tell me that I too will be call in just for making this opinion.

Josephine: Considering that the Blog House is to be the representative of the alternative media, and both Tony Yew and Rocky Bru (Ahirudin Attan) are in its leadership, it is clear why BN selected this group to sit at the Media Consultative Council.

Rubystar_4037: Just an innocent tweet and it landed her in so much trouble. How about the seditious garbage spewed by Ibrahim Ali and Utusan ? This country is really going to the dogs, with not even a little right to tweet about our personal feelings.

Mr PM, you are making the rakyat turn against you by such a high-handed manner of suppressing the expression of the rakyat.

Anonymous: I always feel hard to breath after reading all these related news. What happen to Malaysia?

'Chan used Christianity to incite folk against gov't'

Quigonbond: Tony Yew is purportedly our online media representative. That says as much about his political leaning and his absence of neutrality.

What he says here about loving Malaysia and don't let the likes of S Ambiga destroy Malaysia sounds very much like Utusan , Perkasa, PM Najib Razak and Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein.

In the end, he will have to answer to his God. For now, Malaysians should just march on without paying him too much attention.

Onyourtoes: Yew Char Kwei, "if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also". Can you recall which book this came from, and which verse? When was the last time you read your scripture?

Can you see now the investigation and the carting away of computer was done in double quick time? Just shut up, there is nothing for you to say further because it is not going to make an iota of difference for you to redeem yourself.

Gerard Samuel Vijayan: Every Malaysian has a right to express an opinion on any matter of public concern. Why do they need to explain themselves to people like Yew?

What incitement? Is there any proof that Christians acted on Chan Lilian's views? Frankly, most Christians are sympathetic to her views and will act on them come GE13. If Yew thinks that the BN and Najib are the saviours of this country and God's gift to Malaysians - so be it. But don't threaten others for having a different view.

Christians have been in the forefront of fighting injustice, corruption and abuse wherever it may occur over the centuries. It is part of their calling and faith. If Yew is happy with the overt and covert persecution and demonisation of Christians in Malaysia - that is his right.

But don't speak as if you represent all Christians and Malaysians. Since when did we appoint a coward like you to represent our voices? Even the Pope does not claim as much.

Anonymous_3fcc: This guy described himself as a budding entrepreneur. Need we say more about his intention?

It is really a despicable act by anybody to lodge police report just because he doesn't agree with the view presented, least of all a so-called Christian against a fellow Christian.
