Sodomy II: Original medical report nowhere to be found

Whether the judgment is going to be fair, others are able to pass comments later. With the Internet, nothing could be hidden or covered up because once posted in a news portal or blog somewhere, it could be easily retrieved.

We had a large dose of Sodomy I, now we are witness to Sodomy II, thanks to the relentless efforts of Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his chosen successor, Najib Razak, who chose to vilify their political opponent to protect their own position as PM.

Kit P: Even a layman, let alone an expert of Dr David Wells' stature, can understand the anus is a very dirty and hostile environment to retrieve an unambiguous sample of semen after 48 hours.

Either Anwar Ibrahim has super semen or Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan has a super-clean anus (yeah, after holding his faeces for more than 48 hours). To me, this whole trial goes into "something is not right" category.

For a judge to fail to pick this up suggests there are many other external pressures which are being applied.

But from the cross-examination, we can safely say that Wells is indeed a professional and knows what he is saying. The SG II was at his wits end trying to find a flaw in Wells, which I'm certain he would fail miserably.

CHKS: As a medical doctor, I fully agree with Wells. How can you extrapolate a principle based on an anecdotal case report?

Furthermore, the case was reported 30 years ago. Lead prosecutor Yusof, if you have a disease, would you want a treatment proposed 30 years ago just because the treatment was proven effective in one out of millions of patients?

Kryptos: I think it would be timely to read up on how to take a medical history .

Fz2379: Quote: "Referring to the swab samples taken when Saiful first complained of sexual assault, Sankara (Nair) asked Wells to explain if the procedure in which the swab was taken and stored were proper. Wells explained that he has no qualms with the procedure when the swab was taken but the storing of swab for DNA testing is crucial. Sankara: Is sending the swab for testing 43 hours after the swab was taken acceptable? Wells: It certainly won't be pretty."

Well, the doctor's testimony (and he is a defense witness) confirms that sodomy did take place. That's how the ‘not so pretty' semen sample got to where it was in the first place. So sodomy did take place. You don't need a rocket scientist to know that.

Justice Seeker: Fz2379, can you explain this: "‘In 1998-1999 trials, Anwar experienced the phenomenon of fabrication of DNA evidence. We had SAC Rodwan (Yusof) illegally removing DNA samples from forensic custody. In cross-examination of the prosecution's witnesses, it was exposed that DNA taken from blood samples was planted on the infamous mattress,' said lawyer R Sivarasa. ‘When confronted with this fact, the prosecution amended its charge and persuaded the judge, Augustine Paul, to expunge the entire DNA evidence from the record, preventing Anwar's lawyers from responding.'"

Don't you think the conspirators - who seem to be the same people involved in the Sodomy I case - also fabricated this DNA evidence?

Wira: Presence of sperm = presence of DNA. However, presence of DNA does not automatically = presence of sperm. The detection of Anwar's DNA in the semen does not automatically mean it is Anwar's sperm unless the same semen sample is devoid of the DNA of another male.

Gandhi: Dr Wells's sense of humour is great. Yusof thinks he can outsmart a natural English-speaking person. Next time, the court must have a Thesaurus ready to understand the meaning of certain words. Yusof is splitting hairs with an expert who can tear him apart.

S'gor MB plays down royal rebuke

Ferdtan: Thanks to the sultan's rebuke, it has inadvertently raised Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim's profile from a 'wet behind the ears' politician to a seasoned one.

His deft and calm handling of the sensitive Jais raid; compounded with his disloyal exco member of religious affairs Hassan Ali, uncontrollable state religious council Jais, federal-controlled Mais and now seemingly even the palace, has made him a hero in the Selangor state.

This time nobody can take Khalid for granted: he has come of age. YAB Khalid - you make us proud to have an MB like you. Keep up the good work in spite of what your detractors may say.

Do190811: Yes, Khalid is right and very wise not to give chance to those with bad intention to finding crack in order to poke in the needle.

The MSM (mainstream media) is just trying to stir the issue. People in Selangor are intelligent enough to discern it. The MB is the choice of the people and he has dutifully serve the Selangor people as much as he could under such difficult circumstances.

Kgen: This royal outburst is very unbecoming of the royalty. If a misunderstanding has occurred, it can be resolved in a better way.

For example, if your deputy does something you don't agree with, do you rebuke him in front of the staff? This royal outburst is nothing more than a political salvo designed to undermine MB Khalid.

Those who should be above politics should not play politics or they lose the respect of the rakyat.

Tkc: Khalid could have said "No comment", but he tried to give a reply as best as he could under the most difficult situation.

The most important thing is not the name of the council but to resolve the matter amicably between Jais and Harapan Komuniti/DUMC.

Jais, is it possible for us to appeal to you not to make life too difficult for Khalid on this matter?

Faz: Wisdom is just like common sense. Not everyone has it, so to speak. But Tan Sri, you have shown uncommon wisdom in managing this fracas involving the powerful Umno and the influential royalty.

There is no need to check mate them, but do take some pawns to keep them at bay. Bless you for the wonderful work.
