your say 'If the prosecution cannot prove that Anwar's DNA was extracted from his sperm, the whole DNA evidence is useless.'

Foreign expert: Faulty DNA samples unacceptable

Kgen: The case of the date wrongly labelled is easy to explain. This is a fabricated case, not a real case. Some Smart Alec thought it would be better to backdate the samples to June 26, 2008, the day of the alleged offence rather than June 28, 2008, the date of the examination to make it more convincing.

However, the date of the examination was public knowledge so it fell through. No doctor would label the date wrongly.

If the prosecution cannot prove that Anwar's DNA was extracted from his sperm, the whole DNA evidence is useless. It could have been taken from his hair or skin and mixed into Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan's semen.

Wira: I tend to believe the theory that someone had planted Anwar's DNA in Saiful's semen. DNA is DNA as the expert had testified. There is no identity as to where the DNA came from, whether from skin, mouth or hair.

One possible theory why the samples were said to have been kept so long outside is because if there was a planting of semen which was done by amateurs, the degradation to the samples caused would be covered up by the later sloppy handling of those samples.

Gandhi: Chemist Seah Lay Hong is maybe a big fish in a pond the size of Malaysia whereas Dr Brian McDonald is a big fish in a pond the size of the continent Australia. So, we can infer from this on who is the more knowledgeable between the two.

Gggg: In New York, they withdrew the case against the IMF chief because of the accusers' unreliability, but here we have questionable DNA, conflicting medical reports, laboratory not up to international standards and yet the case goes on wasting precious taxpayers' money. And they tell us this case is not political.

Aziz Kader: Quotes: "McDonald also says that the finding of sperm in the sample is inconsistent in the history of literature." "It would ring alarm bells as to how this is possible. And this would suggest (the sample could have been fresh)."

Malaysian experts will be rejected internationally due to their stupidity. Maybe this is one of the strategy by Umno to show to the world we are unique and are above international standards.

Sodomy III will be tougher for Anwar because they will learn from Sodomy II.

Kangaroo: Most sperm will die within one or two days after ejaculation, even inside the uterus. In other environments, such as the vagina, sperm live only a few hours and outside the human body, exposed to the open air, they usually die within minutes.

Danny Lazaroo: I think that this discrepancy of the dates is significant. Defence lawyers, hint, hint...

DNA expert: Sperm cannot last more than 98 hours

Pure Malaysian: There is one thing I never comprehend. If the hidden hands want to frame Anwar Ibrahim, why not hire such foreign experts to advise and help them?

With their resources and plentiful of money, this should not be a problem at all. They could have hired the best forensic scientists in the world to make the whole framing process look more thorough and with no loophole.

FellowMalaysian: A Chemistry Department's forensic laboratory which have not received the rightful ISO qualification - in this case ISO 17025 - is technically considered as having not met international accreditation standard's requirements and competency standards in undertaking the tasks which it is assigned to do.

Thus, the credibility and veracity of the results of forensic tests performed by the Chemistry Department is in question. The DNA's evidence shown by Chemistry Department director-general Lim Kong Boon thus ought to be expunged.

Anonymous_408b: Just imagine how many innocent people were charged and are waiting to be charged based on reports that have not met international accreditation standard's requirements and competency standards.

DannyLoHH: The statement by Dr Brian McDonald confirmed the suspicion of many people on the street - that Anwar's DNA and sperm may have been planted in the samples swiped from Saiful's anus.

To find sperm and DNA where there should not have been any is the first smoking gun of fabrication of evidence.

Given the track record of the Attorney-General's Chambers against Anwar, you can't blame people for suspecting that the AG and the police are under some higher-ups directive to plant evidence to set up Anwar.

Gerard Samuel Vijayan: There was an episode of SVU (Special Victims Unit) Season 11, where there was a criminal conspiracy to fabricate DNA.

Apparently in 2009, scientists in Israel found a way to do this. You take a random vial of blood and spun out the white blood cells which are the only ones that contain DNA, which means the blood sample would have no DNA.

Then take a DNA sample from the victim's blood, amplify it and put it into somebody else's blood - making the entire sample that of the victim of the criminal conspiracy. Perhaps this can also be done with saliva or semen as in the case of Anwar.

Given the holes in the prosecution's case, there is sufficient doubt to acquit the accused but the judge is acting according to a different script. Just like those judges in the Court of Appeal who went on a frolic of their own to condemn Anwar despite dismissing his appeal on a question of jurisdiction.

No wonder two out of those three judges were promoted to the Federal Court. So much for justice.
