Kita aims to become a ruling party, says Zaid

The People's Welfare Party (Kita) plans to put up more candidates in the 13th General Election (GE) with the aim of becoming a ruling party.

Nevertheless, the party is not after the prime minister's post, and is certainly not a nuisance as labeled by some groups, said Kita president Zaid Ibrahim.

Claiming that Kita was the best alternative political party for the people because it fought for the welfare of Malaysians, he said:

"We aim to be a ruling party but we are not after the prime minister's post... this is why, we hope to put up candidates in suitable areas to ensure victory in the elections.

"This is not a joke and we are not here to break up the votes... we are giving the public a chance to make a choice so we will contest in areas where we can rule.

"Statements from politicians, including from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and DAP that Kita is a party that breaks up votes is incorrect.

"PKR, PAS and DAP can no longer be an alternative party for the people as they have different agendas and principles," he told Bernama in Kota Bharu today.

Zaid said this when asked to comment on recent statements by several political leaders in Sabah and Kedah, who described Kita as a nuisance when it expressed its wish to contest in several seats in the coming GE.
