VOXPOP 'He may be seen in the same light as Zulkifli, who was sacked from PKR. Both use religious extremism to try to break up Pakatan.'

We know what you did last Ramadan, PAS tells Hasan

vox populi small thumbnail Astraltraveller: PAS will win hands down in any urban area. PAS is an incorruptible party which adheres to human values whereas the Umno-BN is corrupt to the core and without any principles.

The Umno-BN only know how to line their pockets. Recent examples - the cow minister, former Selangor MB Mohd Khir Toyo and the purchase of the submarines.

Not to forget, billions of black money that has left the country.

Kgen: Selangor PAS exco Hasan Ali may be seen in the same light as Zulkifli Nordin, who was sacked from PKR. Both use religious extremism to try to break up the Pakatan Rakyat coalition.

There is nothing religious about them, they are just Umno's political tools. See how quiet the once self-styled ‘defender of Islam' Zulkifli became once he was kicked out of PKR?

Mohd: Some have been asking why can't Hasan Ali and Nasharuddin Mat Isa be kick out of PAS immediately.

Firstly, PAS will suffer a backlash, even though minimal but it will still be apparent and this will be joyously an opportune time for the mainstream media to play up the issue for months to come.

Secondly, the concept of ba'ia, which means allegiance and sacrifice. In Islam, this concept is of utmost importance. For those who believe in Islam, the bai'a is something you can't forsake no matter what is the consequence.

The individuals, even though, have become renegade from the struggle of PAS, are individuals who believe sincerely in Islam (even though this seems to be contradictory).

And bai'ah is something (as a Muslim) you don't play around with. So it is Catch-22, and I believe the PAS leaders know how to overcome this hiccup.

Chikadee: PAS is a very a matured and structured party. They have been around for long time. Dealing with the troublesome duo is not a problem.

On the other hand, Umno can't even get itself together. Just look at how PM Najib Razak handles the NFC (National Feedlot Corporation) fiasco. I am not, and can't, be a PAS member but I surely vote for them.

Changeagent: Intrigue. Suspense. I like.

Tailoring firm denies Nga helped secure contract

Onyourtoes: This is what nincompoops do, RM50 here, RM200 there, but they lose sight of RM250 million here and RM500 million there.

Yes, one of the interested party is the director of this company, but I think the most important thing we must observe is whether or not the tendering process was followed and the price paid was in line with value for money and market prices.

Did the council suffer losses, were the services which were paid for provided? Don't be taken in by the pomp but lose sight of the true essence of honesty and integrity.

ONG: Even if there is no corruption involved, perception is relevant and important. Since Nga Kor Ming was a state government exco member, why did he allow her wife to create a situation where suspicions can arise?

Surely Nga and his wife don't need whatever profit could have been obtained from the insignificant lounge suit deal.

His surname 'Nga' means silly or stupid in some Chinese dialects. If Nga wants to continue in active politics, he or any of his immediate family members better stop behaving like an 'Ah Nga'.

Besides the silly lounge suit issue, Nga has been making many silly, childish and unnecessary statements which I feel has been turning him into a liability for DAP.

Anonymous_412e: Next time, do ensure that there is no vested interest involved. Rightly or wrongly, Nga's wife is a director. Perception is everything.

VanGogh: In any business dealings especially if there is an interested party, then open declaration and transparency are important.

Each of us needs to bring bread to the table, and just because my brother or wife is in government service, I cannot bid for the business and go hungry?

In this case, the quantum impact is so tiny compared to what has been highlighted in other corruption cases.

Still, let the process runs its course, but be aware of the bigger issues in life. Do we go after the RM600 contract over a loss of a 50 sen or the RM250 million stuff?

Disgusted: Next time, make it a rule amongst Pakatan-ruled states that all tenderers for any job, they must reveal if there is anyone in their company, whether shareholder or senior management, is connected directly - like father, mother, brother, sister or children including direct in-laws - to top decision-makers.

It is not fair to exclude them altogether from the tendering process as they may be genuine applicants with the best services and price. However, the tender board should be independent of the MPs, Aduns or councillors, and they should not be part of it.

All tender and awards should be transparent although it will not be necessary to reveal all information in order to protect the copyright and entrepreneurial skills of the applicant.

All monitoring should be also be transparent for quality control and delivery according to specifications. Any failure or breach should warrant compensation extracted and or termination of the contract and blacklisting of the contractor.
