The fragile state of mind of Ibrahim Ali

YOURSAY 'I think Ibrahim Ali and his minions should be very careful - if ever there was anyone who could be considered as making seditious comments, it is them.'

Perkasa wants Rev Eu probed for sedition

Pemerhati: Reverend Eu Hong Seng said, "I have no problem with the rights of the Malays and the sultans in the constitution, but I think what irks many of us are the shifting rights... rights as in 1990, year 2000, or the rights after everything has been taken away, or rights as in the year when we first celebrated Merdeka."

From this, it is clear that Eu did not question Malay rights as enshrined in the constitution. He and all right-thinking Malaysians are justifiably irritated, disgusted and sickened with what Eu calls the "shifting rights", which have appeared out of the blue, such as the Ku Klux Klan type of ‘Ketuanan Melayu' and the fictitious and non-existent ‘social contract'.

If at all any action needs to be taken, it should be against the people who try and create mischief by propagating such Nazi and apartheid-like concepts.

Quigonbond: After a period of lull, it seems that Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali can't hold his tongue any more and has to pick a fight with someone.

Voters of his constituency, I only ask you of this when you vote in the coming elections - do you really want to have a representative who is constantly combating artificial enemies of race and religion, or do you prefer one who tries to listen and understand the concerns of others, like the thriving multi-racial society that we aspire to be or talk about global issues that affect Malaysia?

Anonymous_410a: Don't question, just accept - that's what Ibrahim Ali wants. In reality, he wants the Malays to continue to be ignorant because ignorance creates a sense of dependency, and if they are dependent, they are controllable.

Why should we not question the policies that have made a small minority (of the majority it is supposed to help) super and uber rich. These policies have clearly failed.

To every Malaysian, I say, "The truth of today was the heresy of yesterday. Therefore, dare." - Immanuel Velikovsky.

Trumpet Call: If the government is stupid enough to listen to the demands of Ibrahim Ali, then I can guarantee BN would alienated the Christian votes forever.

It would also show up Umno's fragile state of mind and its inability to stand up to healthy challenges. Anything that mentions about the Malays is considered seditious.

If that is so, then either it reveals gross insecurity on the part of Umno or it is beginning to become a totalitarian regime.

Not Confused: Having just read this news report, I am now absolutely speechless at the crass idiotic statements by Ibrahim Ali, like "In the Philippines and in South Africa, there is unrest when the original inhabitants are worse off."

Well, Perkasa, the Orang Asli and other indigenous peoples were here long before the Malays drifted in from Java and Sumatra. The Orang Asli are the minorities, so beware - history might repeat itself here in Malaysia.

Malaysian Born: There is no such thing as a social contract so I really wish all politicians and fools like Ibrahim Ali would stop referring to what does not exist.

As for charging people with sedition, I think Ibrahim Ali and his minions should be very careful - if ever there was anyone who could be considered as making seditious comments, it is them.

Regardless, there must be freedom of speech so I believe even Perkasa and their gas-bag leaders should be allowed to verbalise their bile and poison.

I do ,however, wish that they not be given so much attention, there are tea ladies and latrine attendants whose opinion is more relevant and well thought out but they certainly are not getting this level of coverage.

As citizens of this country, you have a right to question any law or legislation that you feel is being interpreted against your interests. But they should stop using the May 13th bogey to scare people. It will not work anymore.

Sadirah: I do not think that the pastor has expressed anything that is seditious. There are always two perspectives.

The interest of the Malays are important but so is the need for equality and fairness due to the non-Malays. We helped to build this country to what it is today and I am a Malaysian first.

I also respect the royalty and it insults my intelligence that royalty is only for the Malays. Let the Agong clarify to Perkasa and the likes of Ibrahim Ali that his majesty also represents our interests.

Ibrahim Ali plays the race card and that is why he is so sensitive about Malay issues and insensitive about non-Malay issues. It is people like him who compel us to consider alternatives to the BN.

Clearwater: This man frightens me. He's very close to cornering the market in stupidity and prejudice. The rest of us average folks seem almost brilliant in comparison. This will not help us achieve balance in society.

Faz: Ibrahim Ali and Perkasa sum up what really is wrong with Umno Malays: They want to be right even when they are wrong.

Umno-BN had committed "crime of omissions" by not letting an open forum to discuss the salient points of the constitution.

The MSM (mainstream media) brought fear to the Malays by drumming all sorts of incidents as mentioned by Ibrahim Ali. Only through honest discussions and understanding will we survive these threats.

Kgen: If there is anybody who deserves the Sedition Act it is Ibrahim Ali. Why do we need a Race Relations Act when the police refuse to enforce the Sedition Act fairly?

Non-Malays are sick of being threatened with another May 13 if they do not accept being second-class citizens. As for the so-called social contract this is just a piece of fiction invented by Umno politicians to further their ‘Ketuanan Melayu' agenda.

1 Dream: Ibrahim Ali, when was the last time you read the Quran? Please tell me what does Surah 21, verse 92 and Surah 33, verse 35 say.

In both of these verses, and in fact in the entire Quran, God does not speak to any particular races but to all mankind. We are equal before God.

Mengxiang: If you want to look intelligent, sound intelligent, look smart, handsome or pretty, all you got to do is stand next to this man.
