The best reply is 'Bersih Malaysia'

YOURSAY ‘Salam 1Malaysia can be the greeting in Sungai Buloh prison after GE13 when all the Umno warlords will be residing there.'

How does one reply to 'Salam 1Malaysia'?

your say Time2vote: How does one reply to 'Salam 1Malaysia'? Reply it with ‘1Dumno' and ‘2don'tKnow'.

And as for me, my vote will go to the party that will be serious in going after graft, wealth plunderers, selective tenders, cronyism and the corrupted ones. Can BN deliver? You get my vote.

Brahman: This is Malaysia where even a greeting can spark a religious debate... The right answer is "Umno didahulukan, Umnoputra diutamakan". Salam 1Malaysia.

Lynn: One page wasted on this news is one page too many. Our academicians are too free and frivolous to be even wasting time debating this.

‘Salam 1 Malaysia', what a stupid joke. Last I checked we are not in Nazi Germany or North Korea. A simple selamat pagi/petang would do for me, thank you very much.

Fairnessforall: How stupid. I wouldn't even bother replying to ‘Salam 1Malaysia.' PM Najib Razak keeps coming up with idiotic ideas to fool the rakyat.

But most of us are too smart to fall for his con. His actions do not match his words. They should change the greeting to ‘Salam 1Melayu'.

Lim Chong Leong: And ‘Salam 1Malaysia' can be the greeting in Sungai Buloh prison after GE13 when all the Umno warlords will be residing there.

And anyone greeted with such may reply by showing his middle finger for all I care. What a waste of time for the scholars to be discussing this nonsense.

HYL: The best way to answer is ‘Bersih Malaysia'. And I really would like to see how these corrupted politicians and the police react. Would I be arrested for saying the word "bersih"?

Jack Leong: How does one reply to ‘Salam 1Malaysia'? Just say ‘ABU' (Anything but Umno).

Abasir: I think this national greeting issue, which has given millions of Malaysians sleepless nights, is so vital for national well-being that a special research study should be jointly conducted by all the universities with a special allocation of, let's say RM250 million, to ensure that 'no stone is left unturned' in our quest for unity.

Artchan: This will die off like Islam Hadhari. Remember Pak Lah (Abdullah Ahmad Badawi)... everywhere he went, everybody was preaching Islam Hadhari.

Then when he was no longer PM, it just died, and now no one knows Islam Hadhari. ‘Salam 1Malaysia' will go the same way.

Md Imraz Muhammed Ikhbal: Let's first establish the most fundamental fact of all - Malaysia under the rule of a racist and deceitful regime does not practice an all-inclusive and fair treatment of the rakyat.

It instead divides and rules, where certain elite quarters enjoy preferential treatment in the form of liberty to suck out wealth by any amount from the public coffers and immunity to the application of law, the greater majority enjoys crumbs of the NEP but yet remain in perpetual economic misery whilst the other races (except those belonging to the blood-sucking predatory elites) are deemed national saboteurs and receives fifth-class citizen treatment if not persecution merely for pointing out the obvious.

1Malaysia is no more than a political gimmick in its pathetic attempt to hoodwink those hare-brained rakyat from the naked truth in hope that it would allay discontent and so people would believe that the government is fair, that the people are given priority and that economic achievement is foremost.

Salam 1Malaysia is therefore the epitome of hypocrisy and even though being a Malay myself, I feel utterly disgusted with the very thought.

To both my Muslim and non-Muslim brethren, I bid them ‘Assalamualaikum' or ‘Salam' with means ‘Peace be upon you'. That is the most befitting if we truly embrace oneness of mankind and love for one another.

Never will I insult my non-Muslim brethren with such a vile greeting as ‘Salam 1Malaysia' and in reply to how one should respond to such a greeting, I can't help but to loudly echo the majority of the suggestions herein this thread.

Yvette Charlene: Reply? Hide your wallet or purse.

Ben-ghazi: 1Malaysia, 1Kerja! The greeting is to beef up Najib's declining popularity; and to me it has nothing to do with 'perpaduan' or whatever.

1Malaysia was concocted by the Apco consulting company at the taxpayers' expense. The ‘salam' is uttered by BN supporters mainly, and used to show the speaker is trying to be politically correct.

It will fade away once the BN is no longer the ruling party, and like the Islam Hadhari, it will be buried in the sands of time.

Stories: Why should we bother with this? I am more bothered by religious tension and also crimes occurring everywhere. For all I care, just reply ‘Salam 1Altantuya'.

Anonymous_3f6d: ‘Salam 1Malaysia' should be replied with ‘2Kapal Selam tak selam di Malaysia'.
